I was walking to cooking when Beau ran up to me. "Hey Sloan, i'm really sorry about last night." He apologized.
"It's fine, Riley."
"It's just that Dean Portman guy. He's actually crazy. I can't have some crazy douche from Illinois walk all over me you know. He just presses my buttons and it makes me wanna fight back you know."
"I get it." I reply in a nonchalant manner.
I was still annoyed with the two. More so Dean just cause he's Dean. Beau Riley struggled with his next words. He probably got the vibe that I was annoyed.
"It's really childish. But i'll try to do better. I shouldn't let him get to me." He states. "He's just another guy trying to get under my skin."
"That's right. You shouldn't bite into it."
"Yep." He nods. We walk into cooking together. I sit down in my station, Beau still lingering but I didn't mind cause he still seemed like he wanted to talk. "I also wanna make sure im not overstepping any boundaries so im gonna ask this..."
I take a couple chocolate chips from the bowl in the middle of the table to discreetly snack on, listening to what the varisty player has to say.
"Are you and him like—together?"
I nearly spit out the chocolate chips. "What?!"
"It's just that he kinda like follows you around and shit like a fuckin' guard dog."
"Me and Dean aren't even friends!" I exclaim. "I think he is absolutely the most annoying being on this planet. You know he is always so unprepared for class, irresponsible, listens to ear raping music-"
"You should see him and Fulton on the ice. Its like they thrive off hurting people."
"Isn't hockey pretty much hurting people? Like shoving players into the boards, snowing goalies and getting literally attacked by defensemen?" I roll my eyes.
"I mean, yeah. But like, they are literally labeled as the Bash Brothers. It just would've surprised me seeing such a gorgeous girl with a total punk."
"Gorgeous girl?" I giggle with a slight blush forming on my cheeks.
"I know it's probably so cheesy. But you could totally do better than a jv hockey player that only sits in the penalty box for the majority of the game."
"Define better? A varisty player sitting on the pine pony for the majority of the game?" I joke, referring to him.
"HAHA, nice one, Sloan!" Goldberg laughs at what I just said with no context with the rest of the conversation. "Go back to your kitchen, dicknose."
Beau just rolled his eyes at Goldberg comment.
"Sure," He winked at me casually. "But I'm not benched the majority of the game though. I'm a starter. I get plenty playing time." He started walking back to his station.
"Beau Riley makes me ill." Julie fake vomited. "He's just like his brother."
I turn to the group. "Just because he's varsity doesn't mean he is a bad guy."
"I never said that, Sloan." Julie said. "I'm literally dating Scooter Holland. The varsity hockey teams goalie. But this is a Riley that we are talking about."
"What even happened with his older brother that makes you hate the whole bloodline?"
Connie, Julie, and Goldberg all exchanged glances before looking back at me. "Long story." They say in unison.
"All we know is that Rick Riley was a dick, a liar, and a spoiled brat." Connie said while getting the stuff ready for todays assignment.
"And his brother, might not seem like it to you, but is exactly the same." Goldberg said.
