Natalie woke to an unbearable heat. She was covered in sweat, her face was pressed up against Coopers naked chest while the rest of her was completely covered by the thick duvet. She tried to move away but a heavy weight was pressing on her back, when she craned her neck around to look she could see that it was Coopers large forearm.
"Mmhm... up." She mumbled into the sweat soaked torso.
"Shhh." Cooper coo'd not wanting to end the cuddle.
"... hot.." She was struggling to breath beneath the blanket and arm.
"Okay okay. Time to eat anyways." Cooper sat up with a laugh. He pulled Natalie up into a sitting position beside him.
When Natalie sat up she noticed that a few things had changed while she was asleep. There was now a tray of delicious smelling food on the coffee table in the middle of the room, Cooper had sweatpants on, and there was a suspiciously feminine looking box at the foot of the bed.
Cooper saw her eye the gift. He had chosen the pretty pink box on purpose, he had wanted her to be interested and curious. Of course that was before she had escaped and been punished, he was sure she had other things over mind beside a pretty bow.
"You haven't eaten breakfast or lunch. So first you eat, and then you can open your gift." He stood, not waiting for her response, and grabbed the food. He brought it back to the bed and set it down between them.
Natalie did not want to know what he could possibly have gotten her as a gift. A thousand terrible thoughts of dead bodies and torture devices rushed through her brain. She noted how nonchalant Cooper was acting, but it did little to calm her racing thoughts. By now she knew he was a psychopath that could act normal with a dead body in the room.
This was a terrible road to go down right now, she could not afford to have a panic attack, not after he gave her instructions and was waiting for her to comply. Natalie closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began to eat the offered food in silence.
"Sam ... his hand?" The break in the comfortable silence surprised Cooper. He could see the evident concern written all over her face, he didn't like it.
"You made your choice, angel. His arm remains intact. I promised, we had a deal and a ll is forgiven." He replied calmly, fists clenching at her relieved expression.
They finished eating sooner than Natalie would have liked, she did not want to open that damned box. Unless it was a way home, there was nothing that Cooper could give her that she would want.
"You were very bad when I was gone. I don't know if you really deserve a present." Cooper chastised, oblivious to Natalies growing inner turmoil. "But I'm sure you've learned your lesson after last night, haven't you?" He prompted her for an answer.
He watched her nod her head, unable to speak. Cooper had told her that she was forgiven and he meant it, but that doesn't mean he will stop bringing up her punishment to remind her how to behave.
When it became clear that Cooper was done speaking, Natalie slowly moved her shaking hands to the elegant ribbon encasing the large square box. She squeezed her eyes shut as she lifted the lid, suddenly afraid that this crazy man had somehow shoved a dead body inside.
After one long minute Natalie peeked one eye open, ready to shove the offending box to the floor at any second. She let out a breath of relief when she got a good look under the lid.
The large pink box contained a few different items. I plush pure white teddy bear, a skinny jewellery box opened to show off a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet, an intricately designed package of chocolate truffles, and the newest iPhone wrapped in a big red bow.
