Adelaide knew that her parents would never, in a million years, let her go outside like this. She was going to try anyway, so what if her parents didn't like her style, black leather and gold is in; she thought as she checked her makeup for the tenth time. It was vague but the white sparkles on her eyelids stood out as they caught the light and sent flickers across the wall. She ran her fingers through her thin hair; her parents said it looked just like Alice's from Alice in Wonderland. Adelaide blew a straying wisp back. She grabbed her purse and then dropped it, the shimmering gold studs must attract heat.

She scooped up the purse and hopped downstairs, and with every step she could see more clearly her parent's disapproving faces. She winced as the sparkling thorn like bracelet dug into her side. The golden bracelet caught the ray of light streaming through the tiny window and sent beams of light to dance on the pale walls. "No. I don't care who you're going out with or why you 'have' to wear it but just no." Adelaide's mom stated without even looking up. "How do you even know what I'm wearing hunh?" Adelaide asked. "Oh sweetie, I heard your jewelry clinking from down here." Her mom continued, still not bothering to even look. "Uhhh!" Adelaide groaned as she tried to stomp back upstairs. Geez three inch heels mess up your walk she thought as she slammed the door behind her.

She dropped her purse on her bed, but just as she did her phone went beep beep. She grabbed her phone and answered it with a "What?!?" "Well nice to see you too!" her best friend retorted. "Sorry I just-" Adelaide started, "Whatever, explain later there's this big guy dressed in black asking for you at your door! Get over here... Now!" her neighbor exclaimed. She slammed up her window and groaned as her shimmering metal beaded belt caught a roof tile. It stuck and she just slid down to the ground. She was showered with copper and silver beads from her belt. As she sprinted as fast as she could (with heels)she spat a bead out of her mouth with disgust. She reached an overhanging tree and jumped up. "Addy! Over here!" Tasha (her best friend) shouted and waved her over to their tree house. Sometimes they escaped their parents and hid out their until things blew over. Adelaide ripped off her heels and carried them up the tree house. She flopped onto her mattress and immediately asked "What the heck is going on?".

"Remember how last week we were searching stuff up on Google and you got to some restricted thing and you just typed random letters?" Tasha said as fast as she could. "Ya, but then my mom called and I went back home and-" Adelaide started, "Wait..." Tasha cut in. She pulled up the search page they had opened up last week, and Tasha could see in Adelaide's sparkling gray eyes that she was scared. "It says here that this is a research document... Google is a research project Addy!" Tasha yelled. "Hush up, this is between you and me..." Adelaide said as something else caught her eye. "Well, and that guy there." Tasha said, and pointed to the massive guy clad in black. "That guy, he has a name tag, or a ranking, or something." Adelaide exclaimed. Adelaide's ghost like hand grabbed the binoculars, and said "... technology security...". "That means... We are so in trouble." Adelaide grumbled. "Ya think?" Tasha asked with a dark scowl.
