Nevermore one day, Nevermore always

Chapter 2

                 Katsa settled in the stands, waiting for the ceremony to begin, her mother still not answering her messages, she had to be in the middle of a descent with the team. The young woman hadn't dared to join Xavier or even Divina, feeling out of place here after her departure and having cut ties with everyone. A book in her hand, she was reading hoping to pass the time faster and not draw too much attention to herself.

"Look who's here!" said Bianca, recognizing Katsa, who she thought was her rival to Xavier.

"Hello Bianca." Katsa simply replied without leaving her book.

Divina found herself in a rather delicate position, she followed Bianca a lot, but Katsa remained her friend, and she could not support Bianca in this sense. Divina simply looked down, avoiding to take part in the altercation, as her brother's gaze sailed between her and Katsa. 

"Uh... did you know?" he whispered in her ear.

"She came to see me earlier in the shop where I was." Divina said with a tight throat.

Bianca sat near Katsa and drew attention to herself, trying to humiliate Katsa who didn't react. Bianca evoking the subject that she was well surrounded with Divina and Kent, because she knew that the two girls were close and then boasting about her relationship with Xavier.

"You always bring it back to yourself, but I'm sure you wouldn't have had the courage to stand between that bunch of Normis and Xavier morons when they assaulted him, and take the blows as I took them to defend him. So brag all you want Bianca about your pseudo love for Xavier, but I think my actions speak more about my affection for him than your words." Katsa responded by rising to create a silence among the students present."I don't even understand why you follow her and are friends with her. You're much better than that." Katsa finished by looking at Divina before going down the bleachers.

"Katsa!" exclaimed Xavier when he arrived in the square.

"Your ex is always so boastful and despicable. I didn't miss her." replied Katsa, walking away. 

Xavier sighed, casting a glance in the direction of Bianca, who smiled at him. He noted Divina's confused and pained expression. Xavier turned his head again towards Katsa but she moved away from the ceremony. Wednesday joined the orchestra to perform a piece on the cello, and as the mayor and Mrs.Weems posed for pictures, the statue of Crackstone caught fire, casting the features of pilgrim Joseph Crackstone. It was madness in the crowd, people tried to flee, only Mercredi Addams remained there, continuing to play his instrument. Katsa smiled when she saw the brunette with the long braids, she didn't know her, but one thing is sure is that she already liked her a bit. Normis teenagers gathered, shouting at the students of Nevermore, some had recognized Katsa, the victim of the comrades.

"We should make them pay, I'm sure those monsters are behind it." whispered a boy.

"Look, a magician's equipment, the transparent box." said a second.

"What do you want to do with it?"

"Trap a marginal in it. There, the girl is all alone."

"That sounds like a mermaid to me. You two fill the box with water, we'll put it in, we'll catch it." said the chief, on his way to Divina.

Weems and Nevermore's other teachers were trying to get all the students back to the bus. Weems walked away by phone. 

"And the outcasts! Say goodbye to your girlfriend! You're not welcome here! That's what it's like to attack our property!" exclaimed the leader of the gang by showing Divina imprisoned in the box filled with water from which she couldn't escape.

"DIVINA!" shouted Kent when he saw his twin.

Ajax and Yoko held him back even though he struggled like a devil.

"Let her go!" exclaimed Bianca, putting herself forward from the Marginaux group.

"What else? " giggled a guy as Divina panicked was running out of air.

Yoko ran to warn Weems, but another person came to help. The little gang of boys were thrown against the wall, while Katsa joined them with her hand outstretched.

"Divina!" she exclaimed, making a sudden and rapid movement of the wrist breaking the box.

The water poured into the street, while Divina slipped out of breath and unable to get up because of her mermaid tail. Katsa rushed to her side, flying a blanket over her comrade to hide her tail and dry it.

"It's all right, you're safe." blew Katsa by squeezing her, stroking her back in the hope of comforting her "take your time to catch your breath."

 After a while, Divina found her legs, and helped by Katsa and Kent, the pretty mermaid got up, immediately taken in her brother's arms.

"I had the fear of my life," he confessed, holding it as tight as possible against him.

"We should take her on the bus" Yoko intervened by putting a hand behind Divina's back.

"Miss Gaines."

Katsa turned to face the director of Nevermore, Mrs. Weems, and from the height of her one meter eighty-one, she was impressive.

"I'm sorry, I had no choice but to use my powers on them. Divina's life was at stake." Katsa explained.

'I didn't come for that in the first place, I just got off the phone with your mother. Her investigation is getting complicated and she asked me to welcome you to Nevermore for a few days. She won't let you deliver to yourself in an unknown city, and can't take you with her. I obviously agreed. As for the aggression, I just thank you for helping Divina. The sheriff will follow up with the perpetrators, and you may be asked to give your side of the story."

"Yeah, like when her son assaulted me and Xavier. No, I'm not answering any of his questions, if he wants to talk to me, he's going through FBI Special Agent Gaines."

 Katsa got on the bus. Many pairs of eyes stood on her, surprised to see her in their bus. Katsa took the first free seat she found and gazed at the landscape as the murmurs passed through the bus. Xavier joined her under Bianca's black eyes.

"Hey, are you coming to Nevermore?" asked Xavier.

'Just until my mother finishes her investigation. You can go and silence the murmuring of everyone, and reassure your dear Bianca." Katsa replied coldly without detaching her gaze from the window.
