March and April had come and gone but Iwaizumi felt more confused than before he had visited his childhood friend in Argentina. Every time he closed his eyes, the image of a smiling, sparkling-eyed Oikawa would show himself to him. And Iwaizumi couldn't sleep. His feelings toward his best friend had changed and it seemed that he wasn't entirely aware of it. Not yet.
Iwaizumi's college grades had dumped itself in a ditch, his thoughts could only focus on one thing. The fluffy, brown-haired, chestnut-brown-eyed, dimpled smiling idiot. This frustrated him. A lot.
If he looked at newly posted pictures or videos of Oikawa that popped up on social media, Iwaizumi felt his heart race and his ears heat. He could feel his head spin and his ears muffle. He didn't know what this feeling was and why it was so intense.
And I don't think I'd want to, Iwa would think. What if I figure it out and I tell Oikawa and... he'd never want to accept what he thought after that What if?.
And so Iwa stayed in his room after classes and practices. He tucked himself in bed, took hot showers, and shut out his friends.
Even though he accepted himself as not straight months ago, he couldn't accept a crush forming over his closest friend that he trusted more than anyone.
He's an annoying, arrogant, selfish, and overconfident asshole. Don't fall for him. What the fuck is wrong with you?! One side of Iwa's brain thought.
But he's also kind, insecure, funny, and a good person. He's a dork that was neglected as a kid and now wants attention from his peers. He's got his reasons (that you know the meaning of) for why he does what he does, the other side would fight back.
This internal conflict would finish with Iwa closing down his phone and locking himself away from his forming crush.
Iwaizumi's American friends would worry about him, knocking on his dorm room door and texting and calling him to see if he was okay. Iwaizumi never answered anything. He was ghosting the entire world.
