My stomach clenched with excitement as we drove through Jericho all the little shops and houses looked so quiet and peaceful, all the people looked so lovely and cheerful. A little coffee shop caught my eye as we drove past, the weathervane, it was a lovely building and looking in I saw people sat with donuts, sandwiches and cakes, which made me really hungry. Driving towards Nevermore was also beautiful, Tall oak trees swayed in the wind their branches waving me off as we drove in between them on a wide spaced road, no other cars to be seen. As we drew ever closer to the Nevermore gates made of dark steal I started to feel sick, this was probably the scariest thing I've ever had to do. We drove through the gates and Nevermore shifted into focus beyond the trees. The school was ginormous, almost like a castle surrounded by woods and my mother began to silently weep "this place will be your new home, promise me you'll visit us" she spoke a lump in her throat growing "Of course I will" I replied putting a hand on her shoulder.

Stepping out of our little black car, the towering turrets of the school looked as though they were about to fall on my head, they didn't, luckily, but stepping into the walls of Nevermore I began to wish they had. The dark wooden floors and high stone walls made me feel tiny like I was nothing more than a mouse. Right in front of us stood a huge wooden desk. A woman peered above it and grinned at me making me feel a little better with the huge change of scenery. A voice echoed from behind me and turning around the tallest women I have ever seen was stood close by me looking down at me and my parents. Her very light blonde hair all tied up in a nice up-do. A big toothy grin on her face she greeted us in a bold British accent "hello, I'm Principle Weems, Would you like to follow me?" We all nodded in shock. Following the giant women she strolled through the corridors of the school and stopped just before a big oak door with a sign that read 'PRINCIPLE WEEMS' in big fancy capitals. "Here we are" she finally stated as she pushed open the door. She walked over to her desk and stood behind it as she gestured for us all to sit "I've had a look at your file, you seem to be doing great in science and other studies but your struggling with your maths and English luckily you've just scraped by enough to get in but I do expect better this year as it is your last" I nodded and stared at my feet "your in good hands Miss Thorpe I promise you my staff are more than capable of helping you to bump your grades back up to standards". After this she began talking to my parents about contact information forms and stuff like that. "Keira had therapy back in our old town do you recommend anyone nearby?"  I shot a look at my mum, my hopes of being shrink free was just ruined. Nudging her arms she continued anyway "she's had a lot of issues especially when in comes to T..."
"Time management!" I butted in kicking my mum in the shin which she returned of course, glaring into the depths of my soul. "I don't think Principle Wheems is interested in my life story" I forced a smile but my heart was racing a million miles per hour. "I take in interest in every student I work with and I will always have time for any issues you may be struggling with." Wheems gleamed "However I can also refer you to Dr Kinbott a therapist with relations to the school and she can help you through everything that's going on" at that I rolled my eyes, crossed my arms and slouched down in my chair, well Fuck! Staring at my feet beginning to think too deep into how I was going to make friends that was never a talent of mine. I've only ever had one friend and it's been that way since we were eleven. "term starts tomorrow so you have today to start making friends and settling in with your roommate" "roommate?!" I'd been so lost in my own world that, the fact this was a boarding school slipped my mind. This meant sharing a room, and staying here. "yes, your roommate Yoko Tanka, she's a lovely girl I'm sure you'll be good friends. Actually one of her close friends should be coming down now to give you a tour" as Miss Weems spoke those words a knock came on the door it sounded light yet over excited like a puppy was knocking at the door.

The door opened and it may as well have been a puppy. An overly excited girl with short curly blonde with pastel colours hair bounced into the room grabbing me and pulling me into a hug, exploding words I could barley follow from her mouth "Hi! I'm Enid Sinclair I'll be taking you to get your uniform and showing you your dorm you'll be in the same dorm corridor as me 'Ophelia Hall' you'll love it especially your room I'm so jealous" and with those words I was being dragged out the room by my hand. Looking back at my mum and dad they both laughed and waved me off.

The school seemed so complicated, all the twists, turns, shortcuts and even several 'secret' passage ways and winding stair cases. "Here at Nevermore you'll find everyone is very acceptant especially our dorm mother" she grinned "dorm mother?" I spoke in confusion "Yes Ms Thornhill is our dorm mom and she also teaches botanical science"
"what's botanical science"
"It's the study of plants" A soft feminine voice came from behind us, turning to look who was talking to me I felt a sudden explosion of heat and nerves enter my system, my first teacher encounter was with a red headed women with big blue glasses and big brown eyes she was beautiful from her adorable floral outfit to her slightly mudded red boots, but I pushed that thought to the back of my mind as she handed me the flower she held in her hands "I try to match a flower to each of my students, it's a purple and white perennial dazzling dahlia one of the rarest flowers, although looking at you now I should've gotten you Hibiscus" she made direct eye contact and I felt the back of my neck burn "Anyway I shall be seeing you in botanical science at some point! Oh, and come to me if you need anything!" she paused for a minute before saying her goodbyes and letting us carry on towards my dorm room "what's a Hibiscus?" I asked Enid "I don't actually know but we can look it up in class if we're in the same one".

Stepping foot into my dorm I had a flush of anxiety, looking over to the right side of the dimly lit room I saw a girl sat on a big, dark oak bed with red silk sheets, black and white tapestries hung on the walls with vines in between them, drinking what looked like blood from a blood bag, but decided not to question. Yoko had long black hair and big round glasses she stood up and smiled as she walked over to me "hi, I'm Yoko" she grinned
"Hi." I replied quite freaked out I was talking to a vampire I knew that because as she smiled I saw a glimpse of her fangs sharp, pointy and very white. she seemed so sweet so I calmed down and walked fully into the room placing the plant Ms Thornhill gave me on the windowsill next to a blood red rose that was potted in another plant pot. The left side of the room had the same big dark oak bed but the walls were empty. The room was quite small but it felt cosy and I thought about how my side would look. I sat down on Yoko's bed with her and Enid and began talking to them both and telling them what a 'Normie' school was like and about this teacher me and my friend pulled a prank on and how I didn't find out I had an ability until later that day until we heard a knock at the door.

A tall boy with shoulder length hair walked into the room "Oh My God" we both said in unison running up to him and giving him the biggest hug ever tears streaming down my face, Enid and Yoko looked at each other in shock and turning to them tears covering my face I began to explain "Me and Xavier grew up together"
"WHAT!-" the girls shouted, their mouths fell open in astonishment "We were born exactly a month apart. He's my cousin on my mums side. Him and his mum used to live with us but when we were about 6 our mums fell out and they moved out, we didn't see each other after that and I cried every night because I couldn't see you. Do you have special abilities too?" I asked still wet with salty tears of joy "Yes, Yes I do I can't believe you do too and that your parents kept it from you do you think that's what they fell out about because as soon as we left my mum told me" Enid and Yoko looked at each other "shame really. Me and Enid were about to set you two up" Yoko leant back and took a sip of blood from her blood bag and shrugged "I like women anyways so nice try" I giggled, Enid and Yoko looked at each other and smiled "what?", "Nothing" Enid sighed "me too" Yoko smiled getting up and putting the now empty blood bag in the bin I gleamed at the thought of actually having friends and my cousin by my side and if it weren't for the fact my uniform was ready to collect I would've stayed there forever but we all left and went our separate ways Enid and Xavier going to there rooms, me and Yoko going to the reception to get my uniform.

"so do you like it so far" she smiled at me "yes I do although the year hasn't even started yet" I tilted my head and smiled at her "me and Enid will take you on a proper tour at some point, but for tonight we'll get your uniform go back to our room and relax before having to get up and go to classes tomorrow morning. Oh and Ms Thornhill stopped by as well to see if you were in earlier, she told me that we had botanical science together and that we have it first tomorrow, that's when she'll give us our timetables because she didn't have enough ink to print ours out. I'm pretty sure she's done the same for some others but they're not in our class."
When we got back I unpacked my things and got into bed. Time flew and before I knew it I was asleep soundly in a bed that wasn't mine but it was very comfy and warm but with a cold pillow 'THE BEST' I thought as I drifted into a dreamworld of my own.
