She looked down at me, pity crossing her face, yet a smile was still present. I coughed up another mouth full of the dark red coppery liquid, it spilled from my lips and sloped down to the ground. The taste of failure filled my mouth and made me want to throw up all the blood that was in me so I didn't have to cough it up, which was way more painful.
"Poor thing," she said, bending down to lift up my chin. Which painted her long fingers red with blood.
"You've won, why are you still here? To gloat? Must feel nice." I choked out, barely being able to get any words out.
"I guess over the years of trying to kill you, I've gained somewhat of a liking for you," she said, pouting slightly.
"Yet you still kill me?" I ask, feeling the life slipping out of me without my consent.
"Yes," she said plainly, in the darkness I could just make out tears falling from her eyes.
"Why? Why would you do it?" I asked, feeling parts of my body become uncontrollable, like small light switches flicking off one by one in each of my muscles.
She looked to the ground, searching for an answer, but couldn't seem to find one.
"I have been trying to for years, and I've finally defeated you, so why do I feel like this?"
She stuttered, choking on her breath.
"Maybe because I gave you a purpose in life, and the purpose that got you up in the morning is dying. Or maybe it's because you love me." I smiled at her brightly, despite the deep pain that sprouted within me.
She pressed her lips together, as her form shook and squirmed.
"Don't say that, I hate you," she muttered, but by the way she was crying, I could tell her words were fake. We both knew her words were fake."Aw, too bad then, because I loved you," I chuckled, and she paused.
"Stop that! You hate me! I've tried to kill you for years, and your final words are going to be telling the person who just impaled you with a pole you love them!?" She yelled, standing back up from her crouched position.
"Don't get too full of yourself, dear. I said loved, not love." I breathed, trying to keep her quiet, the sound of her yelling made me want to get impaled by the streetlamp all over again.
She fell to her knees, it looked like it would hurt, yet she didn't flinch.
"Only kidding, dear. Don't get too mad at me though, I couldn't handle dying when the person I love hates me." I laughed, making her slap my stomach.
"Oh, looks like this is it then, don't have too much fun without me," I said, feeling the lights all out in my body, and it was begging me to get go and turn the last one off.
"Stop! I won't let you die, I don't have any reason to be here without you, you jerk!" She yelled, making my head hurt again.
"Sorry, dear," I said, the light flickering in my head, seconds from shorting out."Stop! Stop it!" She said again.
The light was now dim, and before I let go, I managed to let out a few more words.
"Maybe in another life, darling."
