Not too long after getting home Xavier hears a knock at his door; but before opening he looked through a little hole he drilled into the door. That's when he saw Sofia and snatched the door open as quickly as he could. "What are you doing here?" He asked curiously. "I just need somebody to talk to. I'm sorry I followed you but may I please come in?" She replied. He stands to the side to let her in.

"What's the matter?" He asked concerned. She looks down at the floor and says "My dad has forced my hand in marriage just so he could start his business in this town." Hearing that upset him so he started pacing back and forth.

After a few moments he asked, "Do you have to go through with it?" Tears filling her eyes she responded, "I really don't want to. I don't even know the guy my dad wants me to marry, but to be honest I have gotten quite fond of you, Xavier." Xavier looked shocked because he couldn't believe she feels the same way.

"As I to you, Sofia." Xavier replied. Hearing that made her smirk, run to him, and wrapped her arms around him tightly. He returned the gesture and softly kisses her forehead. She looks up at him and gazes into his eyes.

Out of nowhere Sofia leans in to kiss Xavier. Startled he pulls back, looks at her, then pulls her in for another kiss. They got lost in each other's lips as they feel each other's hands wonder.

Suddenly, Xavier pulls back and says, "Wow. That was amazing, but I don't want you to get on trouble with your parents." She nodded in agreement and started towards the door, but before she can open it he pulled her back in for one last kiss. "We keep this between us, alright?" He said. "Of course." She replied as she left his place.

The next morning when Xavier arrived to Joseph's house he couldn't help but to hear yelling coming from inside. He didn't want to interfere so he stayed outside and waited. After a few minutes Joseph barges out the front screen door.

"Sorry about that. We were having a slight disagreement." Joseph said as he was trying to calm down. "It's fine sir. What will I be doing today?" Xavier replied. Joseph stayed looking around then said, "You did a mighty fine job painting the shed out back. How about you paint the house."

Xavier nodded and started right away. As he was painting he couldn't help but reminisce about last night and would start smiling. "Why would she choose me? I'm not rich and don't have much to offer either." He thought. But either way he was happy that she did.

A couple hours after painting Sofia walks outside to check on him since Joseph had left. She knew he had to be hungry and thirsty so she brought him a couple sandwiches and some sweet tea. Seeing her bring that to him out a smile on his face. "What about your mom? Think she'll have something to say about you bringing me this?" Xavier asked. She shook her head and replied, "I honestly don't care. We can't have you dying on us can we?" They both smiled.

By this time Joseph had returned, but this time he had Gerald. "Sofia, I have someone you need to meet." Joseph called out. Sofias' heart dropped as she got up and went inside. Xavier hurried up to finish the sandwiches so he could get back to work.

Sofia went into the living room to meet up with Joseph and Gerald. "Sofia, this is Gerald. The one I told you about." Joseph said. "Nice to meet you, ma'am." Gerald said as he raised his hand to shake hers. Sofia didn't move nor was she looking at him. "Well aren't you gonna say something?" Joseph asked. Sofia shook her head and went to turn away.

"You know he's your future husband." Joseph added. Sofia turns to look Joseph straight in the eyes and replied, "I'll be the one who chooses my partner, not you." Angrily Joseph turns to Gerald and says, "She'll come around just watch." Sofia rolled her eyes and went to her room.

"Should I tell my dad the deal is off?" Gerald asked. "Oh no. You don't have to tell him that. I have it under control." Joseph replied anxiously. Gerald smirked and walked outside where he saw Xavier.

"They got a poor man to do a lazy man's job I see." Gerald said. Confused Xavier looked at him and replied, "I asked for this work. I need the money." Gerald smirked and said, "I guess we all can't be rich; otherwise we wouldn't have people like you to do our bidding." Xavier started to get flustered. "Have a good day" He said as he just turned away and started back painting.

Gerald went to the front porch to shake Joseph's hand then left. "Good riddance." Xavier said under his breath. Sofia sees Gerald leave and comes back out of her room then sneaks to the back to Xavier. "He's got a snobby attitude doesn't he?" Xavier asked. "Not when I met him in the living room." Sofia replied.

Xavier then told her what Gerald said to him. "Wow. I don't know what to say." She replied. "I can't imagine you being with someone like that. There's no trekking what he'll do or say behind closed doors." Xavier added. Sofia agreed and dropped her head. "I don't know what to do about all this." She said. Xavier thought for a second then replied, "I know how to take your mind off of it. There's a small waterfall not too far from here if you wanna meet me there." Sofia nodded as Xavier told her the directions to bet to the waterfall.

Xavier started to clean up as sunset was fast approaching. He was excited to show her the waterfall and especially his hide out behind it. He knew that she would be able to relax there so before he left he told her that he'll be there at midnight. Xavier fast paces home to get cleaned up for what he thought was a date. "Could she be the one?" He thought.
