Alec's hands feel clammy, and he can't even blame it on the lack of AC this time. No, the street is ice cold, the October wind sweeps through the streets and even more so through his too thin jacket. Whoever came up with the idea to shoot this scene outdoors, needs a talk. Like a real stern talk. For the first time since they started shooting this show, they are ahead of schedule. Surely no one would complain about taking the day off to rest and coming back tomorrow when, allegedly, the sun will shine.
On the other hand, maybe it is better to just get it over with. Having to toss and turn in bed one more night over this isn't worth it. Just kiss and move on.
Despite only having had three minor roles in movies before Alec landed this show, he had kissed his fair share on screen. He doesn't like it and to make it even worse, it shows. Which means he has to do the scenes over, and over, and over again. It's probably his inexperience in kissing in his personal life that is the problem; his first kiss ever was on screen. He was seventeen, a simple peck on the lips, and even though Lydia was wonderful all through it, Alec felt completely awkward and out of his depth. Then history repeated itself on multiple occasions, and Alec is sure that today will be no different.
The only silver lining this time is that today he's going to kiss Magnus, the male co-star of the show as well as his onscreen love interest. Magnus is the only one of the entire main cast that Alec finds tolerable, or to be honest, he really likes being with Magnus. Lorenzo on the other hand is a pompous ass, Simon literally never stops talking, and then there's Camille. Alec knew from the very beginning that she was going to cause trouble. And jeez, she is making trouble.
She may be the poster name – well, one of them. Magnus' stands before hers thank you very much – but Alec finds her diva manners extremely annoying. The way she walks and talks around Magnus makes Alec sick. Alec knows, or well knows might be a strong word, more like what he had gathered from the gossip among the crew and cast on set, Magnus and Camille had been an item once but not any longer. More importantly, it had ended on Magnus' terms. Which is why Alec rolls his eyes everytime Camille doesn't take a hint. Poor Magnus. Alec does his best to keep him company though, because Camille, for some reason, avoids Alec like a vampire does the sun. Hence, Alec is Magnus' safe haven – Magnus' words, not his.
Being as close as possible to Magnus at every given opportunity, does have both pros and cons. A good thing is the fact that Magnus is no rookie in the business; he's much more used to everything going on in front of the camera than Alec, and he knows how to make Alec relax. The downside is that Magnus also knows exactly how to sometimes drive Alec a little crazy. You see, Magnus is very, very, very flirty. To be honest, it is not just with Alec, but the things he constantly throws at Alec feels a little more heartfelt. When he and Magnus started working together, two months ago, Alec had blushed every goddamn time and stuttered like a fool. Over the weeks, he had grown accustomed to Magnus' antics and innuendos, now he has a balance to give as good as he gets. A day without Magnus nowadays is a dull one. The two weeks he had been away for some promo work had been a dreadful time in Alec's life.
Suddenly a distinguished voice booms over the set and brings Alec out of his thoughts. Few voices can enrage Alec the way that this one does.
"Lightwood! Your reputation precedes you. No one wants to be out here longer than they have to. Don't let that happen."
"Jeez, thanks for the pep talk," Alec mutters under his breath. He isn't established enough to have the luxury to talk back to one of the showrunners, even if he desperately wants to and has to bite his tongue everytime Aldertree is around. The man is a wolf in sheep's clothing; he has the skills with his London accent and blinding smile to butter up anyone only to, in the next breath, sacrifice another one without even hesitating.
