BUZZ...BUZZ BUZZ... BUZZ!!!
Ugh, who could be texting me at midnight or something. I glance at my alarm clock and it reads 7:50am. Oh crap! I've got twenty minutes to make myself look like a living person, so for once in my life I decide I'm gonna wait until school to check my phone.

I stare at myself in the mirror most days I don't want my red hair anymore as it links me to him but today I vow never to dye it because it defines me.

Okay bag check, makeup and clothes done, breakfast- I can eat and walk. As I walk out of the front door I remember my best friend ,other than Penny and Percy, my trusty pair of headphones that don't have a color from the endless layer of tape plastered on it.

Halfway down the street I start listening to Listen the music carries me away and makes me think of leaving Sonny all alone, not knowing if I'll see him again. Also the constant arguments between my parents making my confidence in not just myself but my family go crashing down.

"Earth to Piper, Hello Piper are you in there?"
"Oh shut up Percy, how did your date with Zöe go?" I ask to steer him away from asking me what I was thinking. "I think it went really well, I really like her"
"Ouch I think I've got sunburn, oh wait it's the heat from you blushing"
I laugh at my own joke before he joins in. This is why he's my best friend; he brings out the confidence in me that I didn't know I had. I smile to myself as we walk over to our group of friends. I don't know what I would do without them- they're my family not him.
