wave of catastrophe

It's been a week since the incident in the cave. The group, mainly y/n, naofumi, and raphtalia had gained many more levels since then.

Currently, y/n and naofumi were sitting on a rock, with naofumi analyzing a quill from a monstrous porcupine that had attacked them. Speaking of, raphtalia and zed were out trying to deal with it, as looma watched them nearby.

A voice then called out to them, as the monster porcupine ran to them. Holding out his hand, naofumi chants a new skill.

Naofumi: "shield prison!"

Shields wrapped in chains surround the porcupine, leaving it free to an attack from raphtalia, who jumps up, and brings down her blade, killing the monstrous animal.

Y/n: "not much longer... The wave is almost here, and I still don't know how to use my weapon.. I'm just gonna be an inconvenience..."

Raphtalia: "naofumi, I did it!"

Raphtalia, now looking much more grown, about early teens, shows off the body of the porcupine. The levels of each of them much higher.

Raphtalia was level 18.

Naofumi was level 16.

Y/n was level 19.

Zed was 49.

And looma... She didn't gain any levels. She was already such a high level that the little guys they were killing didn't even do anything.

Naofumi: "hey. I think it's time we get some better equipment. Don't you think?"

Y/n: "that's fine by me. Maybe I can finally find a way to get different clothes"

The group had returned to the town, and entered the blacksmith. Y/n had met him a few times, but apparently not as much as naofumi. The blacksmith himself has definitely taken a Liking to both raphtalia, and y/n.

Blacksmith: "wow, I hardly recognized you!"

Although currently, he was commenting on raphtalia's sudden "growth spurt" as if he hadn't seen her in years.

Blacksmith: "you've turned into a real pretty lady. I hadn't seen you in a while"

Y/n: "we got a little... Held up for a while. But we grew really strong! I'm almost level twenty!"

Blacksmith: "that so? Nice goin' kid"

Y/n: "thanks! Hey, I wanted to ask something"

Blacksmith: "sure, go right ahead"

Y/n: "I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade the clothes I got on now?"

Blacksmith: "might be a little troubling... But I can definitely do that"

Y/n: "thanks!"

Blacksmith: "come around back, let's see what we could do"

Following the blacksmith, y/n was brought into an empty room. The blacksmith started inspecting y/n's clothes.

Blacksmith: "hm. While I can't really do anything. From the looks of it, you'll be able to upgrade it along with the actual weapon of yours"

Y/n: "upgrade my clothes? How would that work?"

Blacksmith: "that might seem a little too complicated for you kid. Go on and head back to your friends"

With a nod, y/n went back out to the others, and was immediately asked a question by looma.

Looma: "well?"

Y/n: "my clothes apparently upgrade with my gauntlet. Don't know how though... Everything that would upgrade naofumi's shield doesn't work on my gauntlet"
