ZACK POV

i've had a crush on lilia dawson since the 5th grade and i know the exact moment i started having feelings for her. it was lunch recess and we were playing kick-ball, she was always the best at it. she kicked a home run and when she got to home plate, this guy, brandon simmons, told her that she was out, even though she clearly wasn't. she wasn't happy with this accusation, so she told him off, he ended up walking away crying.
she's always been tough like that, but she's so sweet. the thing is, is that she doesn't even know who i am, we have a couple classes together but we never talk. my friends always say that i'll never talk to her, that i'm never going to get over her, and to be honest that might be what happens. she's just so perfect, everything about her, her hair, her smile, her laugh. 
"dude, you gotta make a move at one point." my friend, jack says. i shake my head, "she doesn't even know who i am." he shakes his head, "doesn't matter, man. ask her for her number or something." i think about it for a second, "nah, i kinda wanna write her a note. tell her why i like her, when i realized i liked her. girls like that kinda shit." he makes a face, "that's so...the notebook." i laugh, "you've never even watched the notebook." he shrugs, "it's a love story from like a hundred years ago, that's really all i need to know." i roll my eyes, "you're a fucking moron." "i know." he gives me a dumb smile and walks away, jokes on him i already wrote the note. i walk over to her locker and slid it in, the bell rings (we were skipping class), indicating class just ended. i rushed over to my locker, mine wasn't that far from lilia's, so i was able to see her when she read the note. i saw her and her best friend(i think her name is emerson), walking out of class, their lockers are right next to each other. she opens her locker and the note falls out on to the floor, she picks it up and opens it. she reads it, then she crumples it up and threw it in the trash can that was close by.
my shoulders dropped, i finally got up the courage to make a move and then she crumples it up and throws it out. well my day just went to shit.

LILIA POV

"can i get your notes, i was zoned out for most of class?" emmy asks, i shake my head and hand her my notes. "i would like them back though." "thank you so much, i will promise to give them back." we walk to our lockers, when i open my locker a folded piece of paper falls out onto the floor. i bend down and pick it up, it has my name on the front of it. emmy gasps, "oh my god, it's gotta be a love letter!" i roll my eyes, "just 'cause i got a note in my locker, doesn't automatically mean it's a love letter." she raises her eyebrows, "5 bucks it's a love letter." "it's on." i open the note.

Lilia - 

You are the prettiest girl I've ever laid eyes on. I remember when I finally realized that I had feelings for you. It was 5th grade, we were all playing kick ball during recess, you ran a home run and when you got to home plate Brandon Simmons told you were out, everyone knew he was wrong but no one spoke up because he was toughest kid in the 5th grade. But you got mad when he accused you of being out, so you yelled at him for a straight 5 minutes. He ended up walking away crying, that was the day that you were crowned the toughest kid in the 5th grade and when you became my crush. I think your smile is so pretty and the way your hair bounces on your shoulders. Your laugh, so soft yet so powerful. 
It's taken me so long to build up the courage to make a move, you've always intimidated me. But there's no girl like you in this world, you're personality is so unique, you're like a black sheep in a herd of white sheep. But I want to stand by your side, I want to be with you. (I'm gonna quote Arctic Monkeys." I wanna be yours. I wanna be yours Lilia Dawson. I wanna make you happy, make you smile, make you blush.

emmy gasps again, "oh my god, the way he talked about your hair and your smile." she starts squealing, "yea, he sounds gay." she laughs, i crumple up the paper and throw it away. i give her 5 dollars, "why'd you throw it away?" i grab my science book, "because i'm not interested in a relationship." she rolls her eyes, "well it was sweet." "whatever."
