Chapter five

This week has been blissful. Me and Kelly act like we've been best friends and never fought. Our disputes are over with. Sure, we may fight, but it's about dumb things and we end up laughing over it. For example, yesterday I said that the sun is yellow. She argued and said it was orange. We went on and on about it until I finally gave up and let her have her little victory. After that, she started laughing about it. Her laugh is so contagious! Before I know it, I'm laughing too. For no apparent reason.
At the moment, we are getting ready for formal. I almost forgot that I was going with Tommy. I don't know why, but I get a nervous feeling when I'm around him. He just makes me so, I don't know, giddy. All I keep thinking is why would he ask me and not his girlfriend? It's a thought that I push into the back of my head. I'll figure out everything later. Hopefully I do.
We arrive at the school looking better than ever. We meet up with our dates, and dance. Halfway into the night, the DJ announces that there is going to be a karaoke competition.
"Alli, you should go! You're an amazing singer! "
I laugh, "Me, an amazing singer? "
"Yes you. Now, come on. I'm signing you up. "
Oh. She's serious. Well, I guess it's worth a shot. What could happen?
(Two hour time lapse)
"Let's give a round of applause for Kels"
*clapping*
"Now, this is our final round. Are you guys ready? "
*cheering*
"First up, Allison Langston"
I get up to the mike, very surprised I made it this far and begin to sing fight song by Rachel Platten

Like a small boat,
On the ocean, sending big waves,
Into motion,
Like how a single word, can make a heart open,
I might only have one match,
But I can make and explosion.
(chorus)
And all those words I didn't say,
Are wrecking balls inside my brain,
I will scream them out tonight,
Can you hear my voice this time,
This is my fight song,
Take back my life song,
Prove I'm alright song,
My powers turned on,
Starting right now,
I'll be strong,
This is my fight song,
And I don't really care if nobody else believes,
And Ive still got, a lot of fight left in me.
(end of chorus)
Losing friends, and I'm chasing sleep,
Everybody's worried, but me,
I'm in too deep,
They say I'm in too deep,
It's been two years, I miss my home,
There's a fire burning in my bones,
I still believe,
Yeah, I still believe,
(chorus)
And all those things I didn't say,
Are wrecking balls inside my brain,
I will scream them out tonight,
Can you hear my voice this time,
This is my fight song,
Take back my life song,
Prove I'm alright song,
My powers turned on,
Starting right now,
I'll be strong,
I'll play my fight song,
And I don't really care if nobody else believes,
Cause I've still got alot of fight left in me,
Alot of fight left in me,
(end of chorus)
Like a small boat, on the ocean,
Sending big waves, into motion,
Like how a single word,
Can make a heart open,
I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion.
(chorus)
This is my fight song,
Take back my life song,
Prove I'm alright song,
My powers turned on
Starting right now,
I'll be strong,
I'll play my fight song,
And I don't really care if nobody else believes,
Cause ive still got, Alot of fight left in me.
No I've still got,
Alot of fight left in me.
(end of song)

I take a deep breath and look up. Everything is quite. All of the sudden, the place erupts in to cheering and clapping. I sigh a breath of relief. I did it. I really did it.
