The trio walked into the morose and terrifying ruins, an omious feeling permeating the dark abyss that surrounded them. It was their fault for leaving their research book here, and their lack of rational thinking led them back here, back to me. It wasn't every day that I got visitors, specially considering the fact that all those that come to visit never return, running away with fear in their eyes.

Was I so sinister that it reminded them of their own two faced duality?

Possibly so, but I doubt that the mortals would accept their own fault. Most would rather die before admitting to their mistakes. And besides, I meant no wrong.

I could hear them, their footsteps getting closer and closer to my location, me deviating from my usual hiding spot and shuffling into the darkness, watching closely as the researchers entered the room in a way akin to that of a rabid animals being set free from their cages. They, within this so called 'research' book, called me a freak of nature, a vile and savage creature which needed to be exterminated.

They say these things yet...do they truly understand? I didn't wish to be here and to have to prey on the mortals that came into my abode. It was them, the monsters of men which created me and abandoned me. THEY should be the ones to pay, not me.

Slowly, I made myself visible to them, seeing their faces go from confused to a mixture of horror and blatantly murderous rage.

Why so afraid? Why so enraged? Afraid of that which you have created? Angry because of the consequences of your actions?

I swatted at their candle as the doors slammed shut, golden eyes shining through the darkness I was so fond of.

I hated killing mortals. It wasn't...right..
However, if I didn't continue doing this, then how would I survive?
