Y/n. It was just after New Years and here you are, fresh out of college, looking through the streets of New York City. All of the life shows throughout the city, and you absolutely love the fuck out of it. The lights, the honking, all of the conversations you're accidentally eavesdropping on, make you absolutely astonished. Congratulations, Y/n. You made it to your dream location. You did it!! You were wearing a longer coat with your everyday clothes (don't wanna pick out an outfit for y'all just think of what y'all usually wear), and thank god you did because it's freezing this time of year.

Pulling you out of your daydream, was your best friend calling you. You pulled out your phone and immediately picked up.

"Hey!!"

"Hiii Y/n! How was your flight?" Your best friend, Ayva, (guys that's me and it's pronounced ava, anyways yass i'm your bff) asked.

"It was good! The food was eh, but I'm so happy I'm finally here." You smiled thinking about how your dream officially came true.

"Yay!! Oh my god, I can't believe we finally graduated." You and Ayva went to the same college. That's where you guys met.

"I know right? It feels like a huge fucking dream."

"Literally, like it still feels like yesterday was when we first met in the dorms."

"Exactly. When do you start med school?"

"Ugh, don't remind me. I have about 4 months. I know I'm supposed to be excited and everything, but like I'm scared I'm gonna be so overwhelmed."

You could tell Ayva was scared. She was always stressed about everything, she's not very good with new experiences, but she had you to help calm her down. "It's gonna be okay, dude. You're fine. You're smart and I'm sure you'll find someone to help "tutor" you." You winked as if she could see you.

"Shut the fuck up, Y/n. I know you winked. Take it back." She laughed with a hint of annoyance.

"Alright alright." You laughed. "Maybe there's some lucky girl out there for the Ayva."

"Maybe."

"Everything's gonna be okay."

"This is why I love you... sorta."

"Wow. I'm going to try to not take offense to that."

"I'm just kidding, asshole."

"Yeah yeah. Whatever, bitch."

After a few seconds of you two giggling, going over college memories, you got off the call and started walking towards your new apartment your parents helped you with. You walked in through the front door and immediately loved it. It had a modern look and it had been furnished already. It felt like home. You quickly unpacked and took out your laptop to call your parents.

"Hi Mom! Hi Dad!"

"Hey sweetie," your mom said with a smile on her face.

"I didn't know that this place was going to be furnished already." You were sitting on the couch in front of the television.

"It was a surprise from me," your dad exclaimed. "I wanted to make the place feel more like home for you."

"Thanks, Dad. I really appreciate it. And, I really appreciate you guys helping out with the payments for a bit. I'm going to get a job very soon, and I'll pay you right back as soon as possible."

"There's no need for that, honey," your mom smiled. "Think of it as a graduation gift from us."

"Mom, I'm going to pay you guys back. This is a lot of a gift. But, thank you."

"What are you thinking for a job?"

"I was thinking just continuing being a waitress for a bit until I can find another job. But, I'm thinking a more fancy restaurant to be a waitress at. More tips and all."

"That's a good idea. Well, your father and I are gonna head to bed soon. I have work tomorrow and your father has one of his projects to work on." Your mom rolled her eyes. (time diff and all)

"I know you rolled your eyes," your dad exclaimed. He was out of the room, but was still in listening distance.

"I didn't!"

You giggled along with your mom. "I hope you guys have a good night. Love you!"

"Love you too, hon. So does your father."

"Love you kiddo," your dad yelled from the kitchen.

You laughed before ending the call and closing your laptop. You looked around for a bit before getting back up, putting your coat back on, and heading out of your apartment complex. You got a slice of pizza from Joe's and walked around looking for restaurants hiring. You came across plenty of fancy restaurants, such as Ocean Prime, La Grenouille, etc, but none of them were hiring. You were just about to give up before coming across Per Se. You were able to get an interview for next Thursday. And you were going to be ready for it.
