a few days later*

"I have this interview at Per Se in a few hours, and honestly I'm not excited for it." You and Ayva were doing your weekly catch up facetime calls.

Ayva frowned. The best you could describe it was like a Flo frown. "Aw, no. Why not?"

"I don't know. I'm kind of dreading it because I just don't want to do it. I want to work. But, it's just another task you know?"

"Ohhh yeah. I completely understand."

"Well, what about you? Anything going on?"

"Nothing. Besides my parents are annoying me again. This is like high school all over," she sighs with a hint of annoyance.

"When are you not annoyed at something?"

"True. But, I swear to god. I can't get away from their endless, stupid questions."

"You're so dramatic. Just calm down, go watch some Marvel and Renee Rap and you'll be fine."

"Ugh. You're so right. They're my happy place," she smiled.

You rolled your eyes internally. "Weird ass. I'm going to get ready now. Byeee love you."

"BYEEE GIRL ILL HAVE FUN WITH WANDA AND RENEE!! LOVE YOU GOOD LUCK"

The call ended and you got ready. You put on simple makeup, just mascara and some concealer, and your best business casual outfit, which was quite literally work pants and a loose button up.

*fast forward*

You were taken to a table by the hostess and sat across from, what you assumed, was the manager or boss. The restaurant was empty because they open around dinner time and it was only 12.

You held out your hand. "Very nice to meet you, ma'am. Thank you for meeting me today." You held a polite smile.

She reached out and shook your hand with a firm grip. "Very nice to meet you as well, Ms. l/n," she smiled back. "Your resume makes you seem very impressive."

You let out a soft, short laugh, "thank you."

"The most impressive I've seen yet. Graduated from UCLA summa cum laude. A waitress for 7 years, so plenty of experience."

You smiled as she spoke and read through your resume.

"This is all very impressive," she spoke in a confident, but soft tone. It was quite calming and reassuring. "Do you think you can start today?"

"Really?" Your jaw slightly dropped.

"Yes, of course."

"Yes. Most certainly, I can."

"Perfect." She stood up and you followed. "Come here at 4:30, I'll have your uniform ready, and I'll teach you how to put in orders in and all that."

"That sounds fantastic. Thank you so much Miss." You smiled while shaking her hand once more.

"Thank you, Ms. l/n."

You walked out of the restaurant feeling so proud of yourself. You texted your parents and Ayva to let them know then went out for a relaxing lunch.
