Disclaimer: 苍兰诀 (Cang Lan Jue) is the property of 九鹭非香 (Jiu Lui Fei Xiang). This is an amateur translation of the web novel from Mandarin to English. This is a fan work and as such, it makes no monetary profits of any kind.

Translator's Notes: Readers, please be mindful that the live action series was heavily adapted from the original source material. Because of the substantial changes that were made, the novel's plot is markedly different from the series.

In order to provide continuity between scenes, I had to place in some descriptions so the paragraphs wouldn't be disjointed in English. I have tried to do this while retaining the author's style and conveying what she meant to say. Regarding character names and titles, see notes below.

"I am a deathless god. In the boundless Three Realms and endless universe, no one has ever defied my rule..."

A caliginous figure stood amidst a smoldering hellscape of lava fields and slow running rivers of magma. Poisonous black clouds flowed from a gaping caldera and spread throughout the skies. All about this desert wasteland lay the remains of a great army. Their ashen bones were crumbling within the shells of their useless fae armor and in the distance, he could hear the footfalls of his own soldiers stampeding their way to him for the final crush.

With inhuman ease, he grabbed a fistful of the molten rock and began to fiddle with it.

"You're only a woman," he scorned as he stood up, "yet you'd dare challenge me with that sword?"

He turned to look upon the cold, long blade pointed in his direction. Its frigid, murderous aura was as tangible as winter frost and seemed to cut through the volcanic heat.

A lone lady, armored in scarlet and gold, held up her weapon with supreme defiance. The firelight cast a burnished glow to her eyes and when she spoke, her words reverberated across the valley.

"Dongfang Qingcang," she smiled in malicious arrogance, "you have neither the strength nor courage to defeat me."

" 'Neither strength nor courage'?" He laughed. Red-hot magma suddenly flared up from his palm, materializing into a sword that blackened with fire as blue flames rippled around its blade. Seizing it by the hilt, he cast a scorching wave of hellfire in the woman's direction.

With ease, she deflected the fiery cascade and sent it crashing back down.

Qingcang grinned. "I suppose you're more reckless than I thought."

The ends of his silvery hair swept near his ankles as he stepped forward, causing the volcano to shake beneath his feet as though it was trembling in fear. His armies were close now. In a few moments, they would overtake this desert like a tidal wave. The fae stood no chance against them. He was sure of it.
