My double

" Attention! All citizens beware- for there is a new virus spreading.
They say symptoms may include the following:

A double of you will appear.

Hallucinations constantly.

Nausea, dizziness.

And much more but they haven't been able to collect any more information due to the victims appearing all ok- which we believe is a sign that the real human has already passed on, and the double is now living their life.

But they have found out that this virus mainly attacks older people, largely between 20-40 years of age.

Please stay safe! And if you have experienced or felt any of the symptoms immediately call this number:

"Come down for dinner!"
Deema heard her mother yell from the first floor of their house.
"Coming!" she replied back, but as she was about to leave her room something caught her heed.

It was after sunset already and the sky was jet black. So the fact that Deema had noticed something in her window was out of the question, but she was sure that she had seen something so she turned around to make sure there was nothing really there.

As she carefully directed her point of view to the window, what she saw made her whole skin crawl with fear.
She couldn't function properly- her breath seemed to have been pulled out of her lungs.

What stared back at her in the window was her. Which might seem normal although something changed.

For instance, Deema was standing with her feet on the floor, but not her reflection. It was ... levitating?
Not only that but there was no background. It was a pitch-black background with Deema hovering over what seemed like a black hole.

If that wasn't enough to scare Deema it seemed that not only was her reflection levitating but it had no eyes.
Just eye sockets, blood was ever so slowly pooling out of where her eyes were meant to be.

And yet despite it being supposedly dead, it was smiling..?

...

Deema felt as if she was about to faint, which was what fate had written for her but something disrupted her from doing so.
"DEEMA!"
Her mother had come upstairs to check on her after calling her name and getting no response, she was going to slap her for not responding but when she arrived at the top of the staircase she saw Deema staring at the empty window with tears running down her cheeks but a poker expression written on her face.

"Oh god PLEASE help my daughter for she is stupid, blind, deaf and her brain has no more storage. Please, god."

Deemas' mother walked towards her and shoved her to hopefully break whatever kind of trance her daughter was in.

But alas nothing happened. As deemas mother tried to gain her attention something snapped in her and she was finally able to regain her consciousness.

It seemed that only a second passed by and they were both sitting at their dinner table, an awkward silence surrounding them as they both sat at the table under the dim light hanging above them, illuminating the food.

Less than a minute later her whole family was settled down at the dinner table. Laughter filled the room as the oblivious family members had no idea what had just occurred with Deema and her mother. As Deema thought to herself of what had just occurred she contemplated on whether to speak out her thoughts to those surrounding her.

After thinking to herself and going over what had happened and after putting two and two together it had finally made sense to her... a double- her double to be exact.

She stayed frozen, thinking of how this could have happened to her.. it wasn't until she was grabbed by her mother that realization hit her, everyone was already done with their meals and her plate was still full.
