Long ass title lol
[Of course these dumbasses have stupid long names, so they're just referred to as Freddy and Bonnie, just try not to get confused]

[Wrote this in Waffle House on my bestie's birthday]

3rd person POV

Freddy had never meant much to anyone.

Just a lowly janitor, staying far after everyone else left, occasionally accompanied by the boss staying back to do paperwork, but he just stays cooped up in his office, and gets real pissy when Freddy tries to come in.

But there was still a small feeling of being useful. Without him, the pizzeria would surely fall to nothing, they need him to clean after their client's messes, even if the only recognition he gets for it is a semi-decent paycheck.

But one night, something strange happened.

He had come to work a few minutes before closing time, as he usually did. No one was really there except the late-shift employees and a kid complaining to his parents about not wanting to leave, nothing unusual.

But as he made his way to the janitor's closet to get ready for his shift, he was approached by one of his coworkers, specifically one by the name of Chica, one of the only people who talked to him about non-work related things, and the person who usually took over whenever the boss was out.

"Hey Fred!" She spoke in her usual, cheery voice.

"Afternoon, is there something you need? Because I've told you a thousand times before, I don't care what you found in the ball pit, I'm not letting you put bleach in your eyes."

The blonde laughed and shook her head. "No, no, silly! I just wanted to let you know, we recently hired a new janitor and tonight's their first night! I wanted to inform you earlier, but I didn't get the chance, but I was hoping you'd show them the ropes."

Freddy was confused, a new janitor? Was his hard work not enough? Why need two janitors when one keeps the pizzeria clean just fine?

"I'm so sorry about telling you on such a short notice, but we've just been thinking about how much it must suck being alone every night, I just thought it'd be nice to find you a friend! Plus they were very willing to take whatever job they could get, so long as they could pay for college or whatever."

Freddy sighed, it wasn't unlike her to look out for people, it also wasn't unlike her to hire whoever asked kindly enough.

"Thank you for looking out for me." He muttered. "I'll be happy to not be so lonely." He smiled, and though it was half-assed, it was enough to make Chica happy. She cheerily skipped off to close up for the night.

A little while later, the building was empty, except for Freddy of course. As per usual, he started with simply sweeping the floors before getting to the more difficult tasks, he had a simple and easy routine, burned in his brain to follow every night.

But of course tonight, the routine was broken by the sound of the door opening, Freddy heard the familiar chorus of keys jangling, and took note that the new person had already been given a key.

He turned to the front door just in time to see it open, and there they were, the rookie janitor, probably one of the most pathetic job titles out there.
