It's human nature to create chaos in order to build balance. Without destruction, we cannot rebuild into an improved modern society. And within divided worlds, we forget to acknowledge the order of peace and balance.

Mylithia is no different.

An ancient kingdom that's been reborn countless times, it rules high and mighty among these lands of what most mortals claim to be magical. Governed by three almighty kings and three divine queens, the rulers and their descendants sit atop of their socially constructed pyramid, designed to only allow those wealthy enough to climb its tiers.

Secrets among the regime have been shoved under the rug for decades, claimed to only be for the betterment of the civilians and their protection. While Mylithia stands as one of the safest human kingdoms in the world, it would never be able to withstand an attack against the beasts of the night.

What prowls among the Ancient Woods—the evil timber that encases the kingdom and any other marked territory—has been long forgotten. Most elders may be able to recollect the pieces, otherwise, it's no surprise the people of Mylithia don't fear for their lives. They've forgotten about their privilege of having such protections.

Those who still rule—the kings, queens, and the entire regime—know everything about it, yet they keep it from their people. And unfortunately, their children will have to pay the price for their mistakes.

With no knowledge about the beasts of the night, they will be powerless and lost. They will not be able to comprehend and handle their parent's shortcomings. Therefore, their parent's failures will fall upon their shoulders. But at what cost?

Possibly the cost of land, the cost of a life, or the cost of power. The ruler of these beasts will determine the fate of Mylithia. He will alter all there is to come. Under his ruthless leadership, he will be the essence of power and peace, even if he cannot find peace within himself. Within his past, present, and future.

But because of this century-long silent war between man and beast, maybe there is hope for a better world where wars will not decide the fate of empires. To dream of that day, though, is like wishing on a shooting star that will never come.

When secrets are not the basis for safety and agreements can be made accordingly is when the two worlds will begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Until then, the people of Mylithia can only hope their kingdom doesn't fall to shambles before the beasts of the night claim their territory as their own.
