Shehnaaz sat in her balcony overlooking their beautiful garden just to kill some more time in her never ending wait which seemed too long ---- yes---she was waiting for her Sidarthji to return home and take her to the party they were invited. She held the invite in her hand which had clearly mentioned that Mr. and Mrs. Sidharth Shukla were the Chief guests and Mrs. Shukla had to give away the prizes to the upcoming young business persons in the city.

She placed the card close to her chest as she closed her eyes.

Sidharthji, what has gone wrong in our relationship that you no longer need me.

Why have you left me like an aimless being absolutely lifeless and a nonfunctional entity?

Why doesn't my voice drive you crazy anymore as it used to a few months back?

Can't you forgive me for that one mistake I made on that day --- it was a momentary lapse on my part and I think I hurt you so badly that all our love has vanished and I feel like a lost person in my own home!

The bedroom door opened and Sidharth entered their room. His looks were as stern as his moods had been for the past few months. He looked around and on not finding Shehnaaz walked towards the balcony to see her sitting with her eyes closed and the invite in her hand.

He looked out and saw that there had been an unseasonal drizzle. In fact, when he was driving back from the party which he had attended without his wife, he wondered if the weather would be stormy that night. The breeze was stronger than usual and the clouds were gathering together as if to vent out their feelings in the form of a shower.

Shehnaaz was oblivious of the drizzle and also unaware that she had got slightly drenched in her lost state of thoughts about her husband and why things weren't the same.

Sidharth made a slight noise that woke her up to face the harsh reality ---- An insensitive husband biting his teeth under his chin. Shehnaaz quickly got up from the chair and looked at the invite and then gently stretched it a little forward as if to indicate to him that they were to go for the party.

Sidharth gave her a glare and left the balcony back into his room. Shehnaaz followed slowly and asked: May I serve dinner? That is --- if you aren't planning to go to the party.

Sidharth removed his coat and then the wardrobe for a hanger to put it in place. Shehnaaz came forward to help him but he had decided that he would do all his work by himself and not take her help for anything what-so-ever.

Shehnaaz opened her wardrobe and took out a small towel to dry her face and her hair which had got wet in the light drizzle. Sidharth turned and had a glance at her. She was so scared these days of him --- Of his temper --- Of his indifference towards her and most of all of his mean ways of inflicting pain to her without saying a word.

Shehnaaz combed her hair and left the room to lay out Sidharthji dinner. She wasn't aware that he had already been to the party as he never spoke a word to her. She wanted to do what she thought she should as his life partner.

She waited for him at the dining table. Sidharth came down after changing into his nightwear. On seeing her waiting to serve food he said: I have eaten at the party. Shehnaaz felt like asking him why he did not take her with him and why he did not even feel like letting her know that he wouldn't. But she remained silent. She did not know what would cause their battle to worsen and what could ease the situation.

She started putting away the food. Sidharth saw that she was putting away her plate as well.

He got furious again: You need not starve as I have already eaten there.

Shehnaaz softly: I am not hungry.

Sidharth came to her and stood right in front of her: If you will eat after I do, I'll eat again for you!
