I DO NOT OWN OVERLORD, ONLY MY OC AND THE PARTS THAT I CHANGE.

A large table of black stone sat in the middle of a grand room, surrounded by 41 luxurious chairs.

Once, all of the chairs had been filled and the room full of laughter, but now only three beings sat at the table.

One wore an expensive black robe edged in violet and gold, its high collar lending an imposing air. The figure's exposed head was a white skull, bare of flesh, with only two pinpricks of red light for eyes. This was Momonga.

The second was even less human, a mass of black, sticky substance, its tar-like surface constantly writhing. This was Herohero.

The last was a woman with flaming red hair and eyes of liquid gold set in pale skin. Two black horns jutted from the sides of her head, sweeping back above her sharp, pointed ears before curving upward. Her massive wings, dark red at the top fading to lighter hues at the bottom, touched the ground, and a long tail of matching color extended behind her.

She wore dark, plated armor with crimson designs on the chest, leaving her stomach bare, and black leather pants with metal guards on her wrists and shins. Twin katanas hung at her sides—one red, the other black. This was Reia, the Dragoness.

The first was an Overlord, the highest level of a magic caster. The second an Elder Black Ooze. And the last was a Half Dragon.

In Yggrasil one was allowed to create their own character as one of the many races.

The Overlord, who was speaking was not moving their mouth because despite the game being the most advanced it would be difficult for the devs to add that into the game.

"It's been a while, Herohero-san. I didn't expect you to show up for Yggdrasil's final day," Momonga said.

"Indeed it has Momonga-san." Herohero said. Though his voice lacked energy.

"You stopped coming online after you changed your job two years ago, is everything alright?" I asked.

"Has it really been so long? I've been doing so much overtime recently that my sense of time is messed up." Herohero said.

"That doesn't seem healthy. Are you okay?" Momonga asks, worried.

"My body? Well it's a mess. I haven't had to see a doctor yet, but I'm almost there, it's really bad. Alot if times I feel like I want to run away from it all, but then I think about how I need money to live and I go back to work like a whipped slave." Hero said.

"Ah" Momonga hummed.

"That's terrible Hero." I say. And then listen as Hero goes on and rants about his life irl.

"I'm sorry to rant about all of this to you guys, I'm just not able to say this stuff irl." He apologized.

I send a smile emoticon to him and say, "it's quite alright Herohero, I understand."

"Yeah, don't worry about it herohero. I made you come online despite you being busy. It's the least I could do." Momonga said, sending an emoticon.

"I'm grateful for that Momonga-san, Reia-san. I'm glad I could meet my friends after signing on " Hero said.

"I'm happy to hear you say that Hero" I say.

"...But i think its time for me to log off." Hero's tentacle wiggled mid air as though her were operating something. Indeed he was operating a menu.

Momonga's expression fell briefly. "You're right, it's late."

"I'm sorry about this you guys, I really did want to stay with you until the end but I'm about to fall asleep." Hero says sadly

"Ah- well you do sound pretty tired. You should log out soon and get some rest" Momonga says.

I block them out for the next few minutes thinking, 'Ah, I almost forgot I have to get up at 5am tomorrow... I should go to sleep right after we're automatically logged out of the server.'

My thoughts were interrupted by a screen popping up in front of me.

'Herohero has logged out'

Oops. I missed him.

Momonga looked at the spot where Hero had been and spoke, "Today's the last day of the game, I know you're tired but we'll never get a chance like this again, why don't we stay on until the end." But of course Hero didn't answer. He wasn't here.

I get up and move over to Momonga and place my hand on his shoulder in silent reassurance.

He looks up at me and sends a smile emoticon before getting up and moving to the staff of Ainz Ooal Gown.

"I don't think they'd mind if I took it with me. Just this once." He said before looking at me.

I smiled and shook my head. "Go ahead"

Momonga walked out of the room with me on his right and into a large dark  hallway with chandeliers along the ceiling.

Once this had been a six floor dungeon but after Momonga and the guil got ahold of it it changed dramatically and now It had ten floors with each floor having its own theme.

The first to third floors had been modeled after a tomb. The fourth floor was an under ground lake. The fifth floor was a frozen glacier. The sixth floor was a rain forest. The seventh floor was a sea of magma. The eighth floor was a wasteland. And the ninth and tenth floors were the realm of the gods, In other words the players home base.

Momonga and I continued down the hallway, making a turn and walking past a maid.

Whilst walking I looked around remembering the times when everyone was here and things were perfect. Laughter filled the halls and teasing voices jabbed at their friends, I could still remember it so clearly.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I noticed something up ahead. It was Sebas and the Pleiades.

Sebas was an older gentleman with white hair and wrinkles on his face making him seem like a kind old man but his eyes were sharp. He was the commander of the Pleiades, who were standing behind him in a line.

I saw Momonga move and noticed he was checking the NPC menu.

"Ah, Sebas. So that was his name." I heard him mumble.

"Should we take them with us to the throne room?" I ask tilting my head curiously.

"Hm..." Momonga hums and considers it before saying "Follow" and then walking away mumbling something.

I walk along side him as he walks the halls and then the throne room and up to his throne where I tell the Pleiades to 'Stand By', then I walk up and stand to the left of his throne.

We sit in silence for awhile, me watching as Momonga messes with Albedo's design as the timer ticks down before Momonga speaks up.

"It was fun playing with you Reia. Maybe we can play that new MMO game that is so popular these days."

"Yeah, maybe." I say.

[23:55:48]

The timer continued to tick getting closer and closer to the shut down.

I closed my eyes, trying to push away the sadness and anger coursing through me and just enjoy my last moments in Yggdrasil.

[23:59:58:59]

The countdown finally reached zero. I braced myself for the logout, but... nothing happened.

Several seconds passed. I opened my eyes. Everything looked... sharper?

I turned to Momonga, who looked just as confused. Reaching out, I placed a hand on his shoulder and gasped. His avatar felt real—cold, solid.

"What's going on?!"
