Author's note: Sorry I haven't updated in a while, y'all! I've had terrible writer's block, but I'm trying to start back on it. This past week I've had a small strike of inspiration. Anyway I hope y'all enjoy!Just as Caden finishes washing the last dish, he playfully splashes a little bit of water on Lilly. She gasps, "Hey!" Caden looks away, acting innocent like he didn't do anything. Lilly goes back to drying the dishes, so he does it again. Lilly whines, "Caden! Stop!"
He laughs, "Stop what?"Lilly huffs, "You know what."
Caden smirks, "I have no idea what you're talking about. I guess that concussion still has you a little loopy."
Lilly huffs, "Mhm. You better watch it! You are going to think loopy in a minute."
Caden laughs and Lilly glares over at him like how a dad glares at a child to make them behave. Lilly goes back to drying the dishes, so he splashes her again. Lilly whines, "Caden! Stop!"
Caden laughs, "Why? It's so fun," and splashes her again.
She huffs, "Because, I thought the whole point in me drying the dishes and you washing the dishes was so I wouldn't get soaking wet."
"Well, I'm not getting you soaking wet, just a little wet. There's a difference," laughs Caden as he splashes Lilly once more.
"Ok, that's it. You started it," huffs Lilly as she slams down the towel and slaps her hand in the water, splashing it all over Caden's face and shirt. He stares at her in shock, his face now dripping with water. She tries not to laugh and says, "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry, Caden. I didn't mean to...." Caden interrupts her by splashing her with water. They both laugh and she splashes him back. He splashes her again, then they go back and forth splashing each other as they continue laughing, until....
"What in the world is going on in here!" shouts Lilly's mom as she walks in to see her daughter, Caden, and her kitchen floor covered in soapy water.
Lilly and Caden stop dead still and stare at her. Lilly shyly says, "Uhh...sorry, mom."
Caden says, "Sorry, Mrs. Andrews. It's my fault. I splashed Lilly with water and we uhh...kinda got carried away. We'll get this mess cleaned up."
Mrs. Andrews says, "Well...ok then, but you two better hurry up before all this water ruins my floor."
Caden says, "Yes, ma'am. Right away." Mrs. Andrews walks out of the kitchen and Lilly looks at Caden and busts out laughing, which makes him laugh as well. Once they finally compose themselves, Caden says, "Ok, we better get this floor cleaned up real quick before your mom comes back." Lilly grabs a towel and they work together drying the floor.
Right after, Lilly's mom walks back in and asks, "Well, did you get my floor cleaned up yet?"
Lilly says, "Yes, ma'am. We just finished."
Mrs Andrews smiles, "Ok, good. Now you two go in the living room and wait on your dad and brother. Your brother should be back with Caden's car in no time and he'll drive Caden home. I'll get these last couple of dishes cleaned up."
Lilly smiles, "Ok, mom," then she and Caden go in the living room and sit on the couch.
A couple of minutes later, Mr. Andrews and Mike walk through the door. Mike says to Caden, "Hey man, I got to do something real quick for my mom. I'll take you home in just a minute. If you want though, you can go ahead and walk outside."
Caden nods and Lilly walks him outside. They sit down on the steps and talk about their little party they had in the kitchen and get to laughing. All of a sudden, Caden looks at her smiling and it's like he's in a trance.
Lilly blushes and laughs, "Why are you staring at me? What is it?"
Caden smiles, "Nothing. It's just...your smile."
Lilly laughs, "What's wrong with my smile?"
Caden smiles, "Nothing! Nothing at all! It's wonderful!" Caden leans close and says, "I love your smile. It could brighten anyone's day." They both lean in to each other and just before their lips meet, Mike opens the door.
They both immediately jump back hoping he didn't see them. He asks, "So, Caden, you ready to go home now?"
Caden nods his head, "Yeah. I'll be there in just a minute." He looks at Lilly, hugs her tightly, and says, "Bye. I'll see you tomorrow, same time as this morning. Good night Lilly! Sweet dreams!"
Lilly hugs him back and says, "Ok. Bye. See you tomorrow. Good night! Sweet dreams!" Caden hops in the car and Mike takes him home with Mr. Andrews following in a car behind them to bring Mike home once he drops off Caden and his car.
Lilly waves goodbye to them as they drive off and then walks into the house. As soon as she walks through the door, her mom asks, "Well, do you have anything to tell me about what happened out there?"
Lilly blushes, "What do you mean?"
Her mom replies, "Uhm, you know exactly what I mean."
Lilly blushes more, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Her mom huffs, "Well, fine. Since you won't tell me, do you want to do like we did last night and have another girls night? We can watch the next Twilight movie."
Lilly smiles, "Sure, mom. I'd love that."
Her mom says, "Ok. Well, then, you go get your pajamas on and meet me in my bedroom."
Lilly says, "Ok," then she runs up to her room and puts on a long baby yellow night gown.
Once Lilly changes clothes, she walks over to her mom and dad's room. When she enters, she sees her mom sitting on the bed in a long baby yellow night gown just like Lilly's. Laying on the bed beside her is a tub of Blue Bell Cookies and Cream ice cream. She sits down on the other side of the bed and her mom hands her a spoon and smiles, "I figured we could have some of our favorite ice cream to go with our movie again."
Lilly smiles, "Yeah, sounds good to me." They laugh, turn on Twilight Eclipse, and her mom cracks open the tub of ice cream. They clink their spoons together and say, "Cheers!" and dig into the nice, cold, delicious treat as they watch their movie. Once the movie is over, Lilly looks at her mom and says, "Well, I would really like to watch the next movie with you, but I don't really want to watch Breaking Dawn part 1 without watching part 2 right after. So, I guess we need to get these dishes cleaned up and get ready for bed." Mrs. Andrews agrees and they clean off the bed, take their dishes to the sink, wash them, and get ready for bed.
Once the dishes have been washed and put away and Lilly has brushed her teeth, she hugs her parents and brother and tells them good night. She heads upstairs to her room and hops in bed. She turns her TV on and turns on the 80's music channel. Mike knocks on her door and asks, "Hey, can I come in?"
Lilly nods, "Sure."
Mike walks in, sits down on her bed, and asks, "Can I talk to you a minute?"
Lilly nods again, "Sure," and turns the volume down on her TV.
Mike says, "Mom told me about what happened with those beeches at school yesterday and today and about that jerk shoving you today and that you were in the hospital. Are you ok?"
Lilly looks down and starts fiddling with her fingers in her lap, "Yeah, I'm ok. Caden has really made me feel better."
Mike smiles, "Good. He seems like a pretty nice kid."
Lilly giggles, "Kid? What do you mean kid? He's only like two years younger than you."
Mike laughs, "Well, yeah. To me he's a kid. You know since I'm 18, I'm an adult."
Lilly laughs and playfully shoves him, "Yeah, right. I'm more of an adult than you."
They both laugh and a few minutes later Mike hugs her, "Well, goodnight, baby sister."
She hugs him back, "Goodnight, big brother." Mike leaves the room and a few minutes later, Lilly lies down and says her night prayer. Once she finishes praying, she lies in bed wide awake, because she can't stop thinking about that almost kiss she had with Caden just a few hours earlier.
