A few days after Lilly's vision went blurry, she finally decided to listen to Caden; and went to the doctor to see what was wrong with her eyes. The doctor told her that her blurry vision was caused by the tumor and that it would never clear up. In fact, it will just get worse until she is completely blind. At first, they were both heartbroken, but now they try not to worry about it. Instead, they put it out of their minds and live every moment together like it's their last.***
A month has passed since their romantic dance at sunset and it is now their last prom night. Caden has just arrived to pick up Lilly. A few seconds later, she makes her way downstairs, wearing a baby blue, strapless ball gown with sparkles all over it. Her hair is pulled up into a high ponytail with her fluffy curls flowing down to her neck, making it look like a half-up, half-down ponytail. A shiny, silver flower clip tops off the hairstyle. And to complete the look, she's wearing her locket along with a pair of baby-blue, flower earrings and her gold watch.
Caden's jaw drops at the sight of her. "Wow, Lil! You look...amazing."Lilly blushes. "Thanks, Caden. You look very handsome...from what I can tell," she giggles.
He chuckles. "Thanks, Lil— Oh, I forgot. I brought you something," he says, strapping a baby-blue corsage with sparkly flower accents around her wrist.
"Wow! It's beautiful. Thanks, Caden."
He takes her by the hand and smiles. "Anything for my princess."
"Aww, you two look adorable," Mrs. Andrews coos, snapping a few pictures of them.
Lilly whines, "Mama."
"What? Y'all do." Mrs. Andrews giggles.
"I know, but..." Lilly grins. "never mind."
Caden chuckles and takes Lilly by the hand. "Well, Princess Lilly, are you ready to dash off to our last ball?"
She blushes. "Why, yes, Prince Caden. I am."
The Andrews wave goodbye to them. "Bye. Have fun."
"We will," they say, walking out the door.
After they arrive at prom, they take their prom pictures and start dancing like nobody's watching.
About an hour later, someone comes on stage and announces, "This year's prom king is...Caden Smith." Everyone starts clapping and cheering.Lilly and Caden are both shocked. "What?!"
"Congratulations, Caden," says Lilly with the biggest smile on her face. She pushes him toward the stage. "Go get your crown."
Caden steps on stage and receives his crown. Then, prom queen is announced. "And this year's prom queen is...Lilly Andrews." Everyone starts clapping and cheering, especially Caden.
Lilly can't believe it. She's blown away. "What? Me? Prom queen? I must be dreaming." Everyone starts chanting her name and forces her toward the stage.
After she's crowned, Caden takes her by the hand and smiles. "Congratulations, Princess...or should I say, queen."
Lilly giggles. "No, I'm still your princess."
"You'll always be my princess," he says, beginning their first dance as prom royalty.
A little bit later, they decide to take a short break from dancing. "Wait here. I'll go get us some punch."
