It had been two whole months since the last time Darcy had seen Elliot. Today, she knew she would see him because her uncle had offered to pick her up to go trick-or-treating with Lotus. Usually, she would have protested to go over because she didn't want another encounter with Elliot, especially after how he behaved at the wedding. But things were getting much worse at home. Her mother now had a new boyfriend, who would instigate many fights between them. It was almost as if seeing his girlfriend and her daughter constantly arguing was pure entertainment to him. He loved chaos, and he shed negativity.

At this point, Darcy had to choose between the lesser of two evils. She could be anxious and uncomfortable for a weekend at her uncle, not knowing exactly how Elliot would act, or she could stay in her toxic home awaiting to be whop with a belt, punched on the head, or dragged around the house by her hair. These were her only options. She was only fifteen, and there was not much she could do right now, all she really could do was wait it out. Consequently, she would be sleeping over her Tio's.

BEEP! BEEP! Darcy heard honking. She grabbed her bookbag quickly, and before rushing down the stairs, she said goodbye to her mother.

"I am glad you are leaving, you little bitch"

"Okay, mom" Darcy replied.

Darcy walked out and headed straight to her uncle's car. Unusually, it was just him. She didn't mind it at all. It made her feel a little happy. As soon as she opened the front door and sat down, her uncle gave her a big hug and a kiss on the forehead.

"It's just you and me?"

"We have to go back to the house to pick everyone up. Where's your costume?" Tio questioned.

"I don't have one"

"I'll see what Vanessa can do for you"

"Okay," Darcy smiled.

Once they arrived at the house. Lotus ran so fast and jumped on Darcy. She was so happy to see her big cousin. Lotus's Halloween costume was the cutest thing ever. She was dressed as a pink kitty cat. Darcy loved the costume that was chosen for her, it fit her, and she was posh and a bit sassy just like a cat.

"So, what is everyone else going as?

"I am going as Obama" Tio chuckled.

"Really?" Darcy asked.

"Look" Tio proceeded to grab a rubber Obama mask out of a brown paper bag from party city and slipped the mask right on. "Do you like it?"

Everyone started laughing.

"I never thought I would see something like that"

"We are team Obama here" Vanessa chuckled.

"It is just so wrong in so many ways"

"How Darcy?"

"You are white!" Darcy answered her uncle.

"I can't represent my president proudly?"

Vanessa couldn't hold her laugh in, and neither could Darcy.

The funny thing is that when they finally went out trick or treating, everyone had the same mask on as well. It was super popular; it was a movement. Darcy still felt that it was odd. Yet, her uncle like every other minority around voted for Obama, and he is overjoyed about finally having a black president. Tio's heart was in the right place. Darcy just wished it wasn't so cringy.

Vanessa didn't partake in trick-or-treating. She said it was too cold. Darcy knew from the moment they arrived and saw her in her yoga clothes versus a costume that she was not joining them. However, Vanessa did help find Darcy a costume, that was the coolest thing she had done for her. Since Darcy has long thick black hair, Vanessa curled it and styled it to look like Fran Drescher from The Nanny. They both knew that Vanessa wasn't trying to recreate the look, but when Darcy saw herself in the mirror with her big puffy hair and glamorous makeup. She told her that this was perfect, that she could be The Nanny. Vanessa gave Darcy a short tight business dress to wear, a burgundy velvet blazer, black thighs, black heeled leather boots, and a black scarf to tie around her neck. Darcy felt beautiful. The one downfall of the outfit was that it was cold outside.

For a while, it was just Tio, Lotus, and Darcy. They were having such a splendid time running around the neighborhood, collecting candy, and hearing people cheer for their own personal Obama. Suddenly, Darcy got a weird feeling that she was being followed. She kept turning her head around, squinting towards the pitch black because she knew someone was watching her. She was too focused on figuring out who was gazing at her that she didn't realize that Tio and Lotus were nowhere around. He might have told her something before he left, but she was too preoccupied with her potential stalker. She should have paid attention to the words that came out of his mouth. Now, she desperately wished she would have listened.

Darcy felt uneased and a bit fearful. She didn't know what to do in this situation. The one thing that prevented her from freaking out was knowing that there were too many people roaming around for anyone to try to kidnap or harm her. She figured that the best course of action was to continue to converse with the people around her and collect all the candy she could. After all, it could just be a group of kids trying to prank her. Plus, that was what Halloween was about, anyways.

Darcy hated 3Musketeers, she despised them, and she loathed them. She didn't know what percentage of the world was keeping them in business. And if she could tell them all that their tastebuds are horrible, she would. She decided to lean against this massive tree. She had a plastic bag with her bucket of candy, she was holding the bucket of candy between her knees and started plucking out all the 3Musketters and throwing them into the plastic bag. Abuela would like them, she knew that, and that is why she was going to save them for her. The minute she finished tossing the last chocolate bar she heard a noise. Before she could grab all her things and make a run for them, something grabbed her tightly on her shoulder. She dropped everything and screamed frantically.

All she heard while her heart almost stopped was excessively loud laughter. She paused to look behind the tree and saw a tall figure, dressed in all black with a Scream mask on. She darted instantly. She felt the figure running behind her, but she did not care, she left her things behind too. The person behind her kept shouting "Wait! Wait!" while laughing, and finally it said, "It's me!"

Darcy made an absolute stop and turned around. The individual in the scream mask slowed their pace and moved towards her.

"It's me," they said once again. "It's Elliot"

He took his mask off and blurted out with laughter "You should have seen the look on your face"

"It's not funny," Darcy said annoyed.

"Don't tell me your mad. It was funny"

"It wasn't to me"

"Here's the stuff you left behind" Elliot responded.

Darcy just snatched her belongings and started to walk away angrily. Sadly, Elliot was beside her. It didn't take long for him to catch up.

"I said I was sorry" Elliot chuckled.

"If you are sorry, you would stop laughing"

"Okay, I will stop laughing"

"You have a twisted sense of humor" Darcy yelled.

"You do, too"

Now they both were laughing.

"I hate you" Darcy giggled.

"You know you love me" Elliot corrected her as he smiled.
