"Southerland Heiress Found after Sixty Years," was the newspaper headline.
"Doris Foxxen is Patricia Southerland," was another headline.
"The Southerland Fortune Goes to Doris Foxxen" was the headline for the Harvey Town News Bulletin.
Grandma Doris, still wanted to be called Doris, although her real name was Patricia did not like all this publicity. In a month Grandma Doris presented Richard with a large cheque to buy an office building in the city for the publishing house he wanted. Grandma Doris knew how much Richard wanted to establish his own publishing firm. He had inherited the genes of the writer which was in his family.
"But, Grandma, this is your money," said Richard as he could not believe the figures scrawled on the Cheque.
"This money and my fortune are for you Richard. I have also given a large portion to Mary and David," said Doris.
With all the successes of the book deal generators almost every day, my company Foxxen Publishing is now doing very well. We use the gift from Grandma to buy a building in the city.
We leave the small office we had on rent in my neighborhood. Shelly finds us a swanky new building to house the offices of the newly named "Foxxen Publishing Incorporated"
There are five floors. We hire more staff. Within a week, we have all five floors buzzing with activity from the Tech and Finance department to advertising and marketing.
The new Million dollar Book deal Writer's Club is set up in August. Everyone wants to join the exclusive club, which comprises the newest successful Independent Authors, who had made their Million dollar book deals through Foxxen Publishing.
Foxxen Publishing strives to make Authors Rock Stars. Every independently published author can become a rock star with the encouragement and vision of Richard Foxxen of Foxxen Publishing. I was going to take readers to the future of publishing so that the world could see the latent power of writing and publishing.
The publishing industry needed more power, vigor, and advancement. It seemed to me as an independent author that the world of publishing was stagnating. There were so many revolutions in the world of science, mathematics, art, architecture, technology, and engineering but somehow, publishing was static. There was no one in the sphere of publishing who wanted to make revolutionary changes in the field. Publishing was in desperate need of the invention and the creation of newer and more innovative techniques in the field of publishing. The field of publishing needed a jab in the arm with fresh blood, in the form of new and creative ideas to make publishing more interactive and progressive.
The other writers who also get book publishing contracts are not too pleased with their success, so they leave the company. Hillary Golding, Lorena Heigl, Chris Wickman, and Vincent Kelly leave Foxxen Publishing House to join SWAMP Publishing which controls the publishing industry. In almost no time at all SWAMP takes these authors out of the field of independent authors to transform them into multi-millionaire publishing sensations worldwide.
Susan Somerville was now heading the "Somerville Literary Agency" after the death of her father Donald Somerville. There were rumors that "Somerville Literary Agency" was now working with SWAMP and was making deals for writers from other publishing houses.
The Million Dollar Book deal Course which was created by Shelly and Regina is a huge success, with its workshops and its seminars.
David my younger brother, a successful Construction Manager visits me from Canada and he is interested in my office building in the city. He used his money from the inheritance to buy a summer villa in Spain.
Shelly and I were getting closer in our professional and private lives. We would go to the movies together at the weekends. It was not long before Shelly and I got engaged. Grandma was pleased because she knew how much I loved Shelly. She got on well with Shelly and she invited us to her home for lunch at the weekend. David, Shelly, her twin brother James and I went over to Gran's home for lunch.
Grandma's home was always warm and comforting. The lovely aroma of delicious dishes wafted in the air as Shelly and I arrived. The rest of the family was already present. David was with his newest girlfriend, James was on his own and he was too much of a nerd to even think of finding someone for himself.
"Lunch will be ready in half an hour. Richard, why don't you pour yourself some beer," said Grandma.
"Let me help you in the kitchen," said Shelly as she went to help Grandma with the cooking.
"Call me if you need anything," said Lucia, a stylish young Italian woman with short brown hair, who wore a short green blouse exposing her midriff and a short brown leather skirt, with long brown leather boots. Lucia had a drink in her hand as she sat on David's lap in the hall room, as he watched the news on television.
James was playing a video game in the next room. He waved to us as he saw us coming into the room.
Once lunch was prepared we gathered around the table.
As I got up to give a toast on this special occasion, the table swayed and the whole room shook violently.
The quakes in the city were increasing in magnitude. It seemed that the quakes were now occurring in more places in the cities across the world.
"Is everyone okay?" I said, as I looked around and saw that a few of the old photographs on the wall had fallen off. Also, a part of the wall facing the front room had cracked slightly.
James waved at me, as he continued to play his game fighting and killing zombies uninterrupted.
David was now analyzing the crack in the wall. He took out his measuring tape and measured the size. While David's girlfriend Lucia went over to the wine cabinet to pour herself another glass of white wine.
"Grandma, I'll fix this crack on the wall before I leave," said David. He loved to fix and build things and he was always busy doing some sort of construction work. Construction was not only his work but it was his hobby as well.
"Thank you, David, you're just like your Dad, he loved to fix and build," said Grandma Doris.
Shelly was now busy settling the table, which was disturbed by the earthquake. She was wiping the red wine stain from the checked tablecloth on the dining table with a white napkin.
I looked at the news, where the earthquake was being mentioned. The videos showed the devastation caused. It seemed like the city was destroyed after a bomb explosion. The buildings were charred shells and there was rubble with no survivors to be seen.
That month I completed my research and writing on my book," Renaissance Publishing."
