Chapter One- Romeo? Dreamy? Never...
Juliet Deeks
Romeo was one of those guys, like in the books. The one the girl (me... I hope) watched from afar with that dreamy, far off glaze over her eyes, but, unlike in the books, I stared with a the gaze of a dead fish eye. I just looked empty. At least that's what Janie has told me. Janie has also told me not to stare, but it's sorta hard when he lives on your street, and you run into him. All the time.
It's not that I'm complaining or anything. Not one teenage girl I know would reject a fine piece of eye candy like Romeo, it's just he barely even notices who I am even when he runs smack bang into me.
That's alright though. I am who I am and I don't need any man to make me feel better about myself... Although it would be nice.
Then again, Romeo is basically a lady magnet ,without trying. I mean, he could turn up in a tattered fish costume that smells of vomit and girls would still drool all over him. I don't know whether it's his name or his hair or his face, or just him, but he's just... just... well, Romeo I guess.
Romeo the scholar and poet.
Romeo the cute and desirable.
Romeo the boy of my dreams.

"Geez Juliet, could you not be so obvious?"
Janie sits in my car, applying a thick layer of plum lipstick to her already caked on face.
Geez Janie, could you not resemble a cake for once?
"Obvious?" I ask, she snickers slightly, flicking her head towards me. Her turquoise eyes boar into mine like a drill.
"Stop staring at him Julie, it's not gonna get you anywhere," She looks past me at Romeo, "although he does have a nice ass..."
"Oi," I mimic her high, accusatory tone, "Stop staring."
Janie smacks my arm. "Come on Julie, don't wanna be late today, someone might steal your seat." She smiles. No one would ever steal my seat, in fear of becoming socially rejected ,of course.
"Real funny J." I say as I open the car door. The sounds and smell of high school overwhelms my senses, here's to another year.
"Well, what can I say? I'm a natural comedian!"

Romeo Anderson
School is shit.
That, my friends, is a well known fact in every teenager's world. Mine, probably more so.
Most people think I actually enjoy school with all the attention and the girls, but seriously, I wish I was as left alone as... Juliet Deeks.
Scratch that. Nobody sane would put that upon their selves.
Marco says that I should enjoy high school while I'm in it, or more accurately 'revel in the bitches' as he would most definitely say, but I'm not here for the girls or the underage drinking games and crappy field trips, I'm here for her.
I sit on the stairs leading into the school with tons of girls around me. Hayley, already dated her. Lia, already rejected her. Penelope, not being shallow, but she has the face of a toad. They all shout things at me.
'How was your Summer, Romeo?'
'Did you have fun?'
'Where's Marco?'
Where is Marco? He was never late on the first day of school, especially after Summer, when he could show off his tan and blind the girls with his white teeth. Marco was definitely a ladies man, maybe even a player, but he was a decent guy.
Speak of the devil, Marco strides towards me, Kate Hamilton, the multimillionaire narcissist of a dancer, plastered to his side as he smiles his triumphant smile. Today his blond hair is sticking up in all directions known to man, he wears multiple braided leather bands around his left wrist and has his long shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He wears denim pants and black vans.
"OH, ROMEO! ROMEO! WHEREFORE ART THOU ROMEO?" The girls all laugh at his statement. I roll my eyes as Marco sits beside me, flooding my senses with some cologne that smells like a rich kid. Accurately so.
"Hello to you too Marc." Marco sighs.
"Ugh. You're so boring Romeo. Try using some of that artistic talent into your words!" Marco basically screams into my ear, I smell his strawberry chewing gum.
"So," I say gesturing towards Kate, who seems to be talking about some brand of handbag, "how long is this one going to last?"
Marco runs a hand through his hair and smiles his cheeky smile. "Depends on how good she treats me Romeo. I do have a heart you know." He places his free hand on his chest, the other still holding Kate's hand. I laugh, the girls behind me sigh.
Why won't they leave me alone? I'm as flirtatious as a brick.
"Hey man." Marco drags me out of my head. "What do you have first, R?"
"English studies man." I sigh.
"Me too." He stands addressing the general public. "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! WELCOME TO HELL!" As if on cue, the bell rings.
