''Hey, Dad?''
The glass door shuts behind him, clinking as it pulls to a close all the while his leveled voice echoes. Effectively the noise disturbs the otherwise peaceful building.
If he were being truthful Robby Keene isn't used to stepping foot within his father's Dojo, nor would he necessarily take to making a habit of doing so.
There's a certain awkwardness to his footing that expresses that — one that he can't help. Being here all feels too foreign.
He isn't sure why that is either. After all, he'd been near the strip mall of buildings that his father's business was a part of before. It wasn't like it was his first time being in the general area. And he had seen the outside of his father's Dojo before. It'd been kind of hard not to when the blondes flyers were practically pasted all over town for Cobra Kai, those luminous blue eyes haunted him anywhere he stepped foot.
So yeah Robby had been outside of it on numerous occasions, mostly while he'd been in a piteous mood. On the nights where he sat in front of the doors asking himself why he wasn't enough — If he'd ever be enough to please his father's expectations.
Nonetheless, he'd still never gotten the joy of being inside of the place, of being included in the Dojo as the elders students had, until now. And even now he couldn't help but feel misplaced. Intrusive even. Hell, his Dad wasn't even expecting him here at the moment.
The thought alone is unnerving almost enough for him to turn back. To be blatantly honest he isn't sure why he's here of all places, doesn't know if he should even be here in all actuality. That much is made painstakingly clear the more he trudges through the darkened building, jade-colored eyes attempting to adjust to the dimness.
If it weren't for the single light flipped on deep within the Dojo in what he believes is his father's office then Robby wouldn't believe anyone were there.
''Dad?'' He questioned again. Only hoping to get a reply while sifting his way through the doorway. Imminently he came closer to the office.
Apprehension consumed him, was his father even here, or had he come here for nothing? It'd be a waste if Robby had come at a bad time. He'd walked all the way here to talk with his father and he'd rather not have to walk back just yet.
''Hey, I just wanted to talk with you, you there? It'll only take a minute, and I — Oh,'' Robby's voice stopped short once he'd shuffled through the cluttered room. While it's true he'd finally found his father, the other man's sorry state almost has him wishing he hadn't. ''Nevermind then, I get it,''
Biting his cheek unconcealed disappointment lingers within him at the sight of his father. He should've expected this.
The blonde seems nothing short of wasted at the moment. Stalking closer Robby glanced disdainfully down at his father, the same man who sat sprawled ungracefully across the floor. Half slunk against the desk as an attempt at support, deep eye bags sticking out like a sore thumb. A bottle of liquor gripped tightly within a shaking hand. He'd seen just about everything when it came to Johnny Lawrence.
Yet he'd never seen his dad's appearance nearly this haggard before.
The sight alone should've been his queue to leave. That he didn't owe his absent father anything. He didn't because he's almost certain that if the circumstances were different — that if he himself had been the one drunk and not Johnny — that his Dad wouldn't of helped him.
Yeah, yeah he should leave. Leave someone else to be the one to deal with the shattered man. Someone like Diaz, somebody good, somebody that's not him.
