it's a new day.

another. boring. day.

today i'm in the convenience store approximately 5-6 kilometers away from my home.

i started working here almost a month now.

from all that job hunting, i finally found a suitable.. well, not literally suitable job but it is simply being the convenience store's employee. specifically a cashier.

it was really chill and easy. only took me half a week to get used to how things work here.

besides not a lot of people come by so it's literally the perfect job for me.

i like being idle.

listen, i do have work experience in restaurants, especially fast-food ones. it was stressing me the fuck out.

cling, cling!

that's the sound of a customer pushing the entrance door open instead of pulling.

sigh.

this isn't the first time i see people not reading the sign plastered on the glassed door. it was big enough to be noticed. it's either they are stupid or blind.

"welcome!" i greeted in a jolly manner. my usual straightened lips were curving up.

there goes my working mode: friendly employee.

my eyebrows perked when i saw a tall young guy whose hair sticks out since it was dyed blue.

he awkwardly steps inside, wandering around as if he is alice in wonderland.

he then goes to the counter where i am standing right now. he shyly asks, "hi uhm... wh-where is the drinks section?"

adorable.

he looks like a dog asking for treats.

"please, follow me," i told him and walk out of the counter to go to the cold drinks section. i can feel him following me.

once we reach the area, i showed him the drinks in the fridge. "here you go."

he eyes it. i see him secretly fiddling his fingers. it seems like he was searching for something specific.

"anything else?" i ask him.

usually, i don't walk out of the counter, i just gesture or tell where the section is being asked by the customers, let's say this time is different. i feel like i should help him. give him my full service, y'know?

"i'm looking for yogurts," he looks at me shortly and then averts his eyes somewhere.

i see, he can't maintain eye contact. he is a shy one.

i nodded and gesture behind him, "yogurts."

he looks behind me, "th-thanks."

i just hum as we both approach the fridge for the dairy. he took his time to scan all the types and brands of each yogurt.

i should be returning to my counter and waiting but i can't seem to do that. damn, i'm literally giving him the full service.

once he is done, he showed me the strawberry yogurt in his hand.

i nodded and gestured for him to check that out at the cashier. we both walked in silence.

i go back to where i was standing while he place his order on the surface of the counter. i get it and scan it for price.

"thousand won, please. want the receipt and pack it for you?" i watch him pull out a ₩1000 ($0.81) from his wallet and gave it to me.

"paper bag, please." he smiled without having eye contact.

i nodded and get his payment. i then pack his yogurt in a small paper bag, getting a plastic spoon too.

after it's settled, i gave it to him. he thankfully grabs it causing our skin to brush.

it was cold.

"thanks."

is the last thing i heard from him as he left the store with a lovely smile on his pretty lips.

he was glowing.

such a little shy sunshine.

i guess today wasn't that boring at all?
