Dark red eyes gleamed through the shadows of the alleyway, silently watching a human walk past, shoulders hunched and head hung low.

Without making a sound, he followed.

The sweet scent of blood reached his nostrils.

His eyes grew dark, hunger invading his senses.

Like a predator stalking his prey, he crept closer.

He had to remain silent.

He couldn't scare his prey off.

It wasn't as though the human would be able to outrun him. No, that wasn't the case.

Unlike every other predator, he loved to have a little fun with his prey.

They called his kind "monsters". But he knew that humans were the real monsters; the reason his parents were no longer with him.

His thirst for revenge hadn't been quenched yet. He'd killed for pleasure.

He'd watched his prey squirm in fear, scream in pain, with a sadistic smile on his face.

He decided to make his move as the human turned left.

The last thing Jungkook expected was to be pinned against the wall, staring into the blood red eyes of an Adonis... with fangs?

He blinked.

Once.

Twice.

This was no dream.

He gulped, fear clutching his heart. He squirmed a bit, trying to get the other to loosen it's grip on him, but in vain. His breathing quickened.

This was all too familiar for him. He felt tears sting his eyes.

"Please, please," he begged, desperation evident in his voice.

Jimin titled his head slightly, his eyes scanning the boy's face, taking in the little scar on his cheek, the mole under his lip, the tear-filled doe eyes.

"Please," the boy sobbed, causing the vampire to slightly loosen his hold, reaching one hand up to cup the human's cheek.

A sudden urge to protect the boy overcame his hatred towards humans. His eyes faded to a shade of pale blue.

His mother's pleas, his father's screams. The little boy watching the horror unfold from beneath the table, hidden behind the table cloth. He was too young to understand what was happening.

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he watched his mother take her last breath before crumpling to the floor....lifeless.

That burning thirst for revenge had blinded him ever since then.

However, looking at the boy before him, something within him snapped.

Those tear-filled doe eyes cut straight through his very soul. He saw the little boy hiding under the table.

The fear in the boy's eyes.

The desperate pleas.

He couldn't hurt the boy. He just couldn't.

Slowly, he pulled the boy into his embrace, arms wrapped around the boy's trembling figure. He rested his lips against the younger's forehead.

Jungkook sobbed into the vampire's chest, his heart still pounding painfully against his ribcage.

"I'm sorry," the older whispered, gently running his fingers through the boy's hair, "I won't hurt you."

Jimin felt hands clutch his shirt, felt the human trembling in his arms. The younger hiccuped, slowly raising his head to look up at the vampire.

"W-what are you?"

"I'm a monster," Jimin whispered, unable to meet the boy's gaze as he let his arms fall to his sides.

In that moment, he realized the weight of his actions. He was no different from the monsters that took his family away from him.

A tear rolled down his cheek as he took a step back, but the younger held his hand, forcing him to a stop.

"You are not a monster," Jungkook spoke softly and Jimin's eyes widened.

"My intention was to kill you."

"But y-you didn't," Jungkook argued, causing the older to raise a brow.

"I'm a vampire, kid. I'm heartless," Jimin growled, pulling his arm away from Jungkook and turning to walk away.

"Please don't leave me," the boy begged in a tiny voice, making Jimin halt in his tracks. "If you were heartless, you would have killed me, but you didn't."

"Why do you want me to stay? I nearly hurt you, nearly killed you. There are others who will protect you, who will never hurt you. You don't need me."

"B-but you didn't kill me. You held me when I cried, when I was afraid. You made m-me feel secure. I- I have never felt that way before," Jungkook cried, tears sliding down his cheeks.

"What about your parents?" Jimin asked, feeling his heart clench.

"My parents abandoned me when I was young. My foster parents abused me. I- I've never known love or friendship."

"What makes you think that I'll be able to give you what you want?"

"When you held me, you did it so gently, so delicately. It made me feel... loved. W-when you kissed my forehead, I felt-" the younger broke down, fresh tears pouring down his cheeks.

Unable to bear it, Jimin reached forward and pulled the boy into his warm embrace.

"Please s-stay. I've craved this for so long. Please, just s-stay."

Rubbing soothing circles onto the younger's back, Jimin pressed light kisses to his forehead.

As Jimin held on to the younger, he realized how peaceful he felt. All this time, he'd been blinded by his thirst for revenge.

All this time he'd neglected his own hunger for love and comfort. To be wrapped in someone's arms, to be assured that he wasn't a monster.

What was so special about this boy that made him reconsider his actions? What was it about this boy that made Jimin want to protect him with all his being?

Looking down at the boy in his arms, feeling the younger's arms wrapped around him, made him feel warm.

A genuine smile lit his face.

There they stood, two broken beings - one human and one vampire - finding the comfort and love that they'd craved for so long, in each other.

You fed my hunger and quenched my thirst.
