00|IN an alternative universe, a hooded man walks through the wreckage of Chicago and watches a giant widescreen footage of Invincible at night.
On-screen, the Viltrumite is urging the humans to stop rebelling as the Viltrimuites are here to protect them and they think have a chance, he reminds them that he's Invincible.
In an underground base, the man is called Angstrom and reports to Rudy and a short-haired Eve that Nolan and Mark are not in their sights and is able to retrieve a weapon of powerful null energy.
"If this doesn't make Omni-Man have a bad day, nothing will," Angstrom stares at the purple liquid.
Eve notices Amara emerging out of her tent and approaches her friend. "Hey, how'd you sleep?" She asks softly.
"How do you think?" Amara responds bitterly, fidgeting and averting her eyes everywhere. She had cut her hair short, and it was now in a curly afro.
Eve gives the brown-skinned Linphean an empathic gaze. "Nightmares still?"
Amara swallows the lump in her throat, playing with a curly lock of her hair. "I-It just happened so fast, Eve. One minute Mark was in my house and the next, my dad's head smashed into the counter and my mom got decapitated," Tears brim her eyes, and she wipes them away. "I couldn't even react in time to stop him... I just had to run, and as I did, he thought it was a game," A tear fell from her eye. "I'm just so scared for us, Eve, our powers don't work on them. What if they-"
Eve looks stricken at her friend's suffering, she can feel the depth of emotion as if it's her own. She squeezes her friend's shoulders and pulls her into a tight hug.
"Everything's gonna be okay, Amara," She murmurs, stroking her back. "Omni-Man won't find us here. Mark won't find you here. We've got each other, and we're all a team."
Amara nods slowly as Eve pulls away. However, the peace didn't last long, because the two Viltrumites arrived in just a few seconds, caving in the roof of the underground base, spreading panic everywhere.
