Sonic's Dark Past

Part 6: Hunt for the Emeralds!

Tails Pov:

   Me and the gang head over to collect one of the chaos emeralds, but something catches my eye. I fly over to it while everyone else stops to see what I'm heading towards. Just as I expected, I unfortunately see the Tornado in shambles, due to the rough trip in Cyber Space. I rush over to it and a tear forms in my eye. I just stare at my beautiful piece of engineering as it is in a  big, mechanical mess of parts.

"Don't worry buddy, we'll get it back in tip top shape after we deal with these titans!" I hear Sonic say cheerfully.

"I guess, but I was hoping I could use it to have the radar pick up the emeralds energy, in which we could find it quic-" "No time to lose, little buddy! Let's fix this thing!" Sonic says, cutting me off. Heh, I guess I convinced him pretty quickly. We look around the island to collect parts for the Tornado.

   I take the sky patrol and look around the mountains to see any machine parts I can use, while Sonic just bashes the heck out of some robots to get their parts. Amy sorta helps Sonic, mostly she just cheers him on. Knuckles climbs walls, and glides around searching for every piece of machinery he can find. I eventually find a few shreds of the Tornado, as well as Knuckles and Amy. They also found the rest of the Tornado, while Sonic brought a bunch of new, more advanced machine parts to build the Tornado with this time around.

We head back to the Tornado to repair it, which due to my handiwork, shouldn't be a problem. I put all the parts back in the Tornado, while also using the new pieces Sonic got me. These upgrades sort of supercharge my Tornado, which is awesome. Now, time to figure out a way to track the emeralds.

"Hey Sonic, do you have at least a Chaos Emerald?" I ask him.

"Yeah, why do you ask?" He questions.

"So I can use it to track the other Emeralds energy, you dingus!" I say.

"Oh, right! Here you go buddy!" he says, handing me the Emerald.

I pop the Emerald into the slot, waiting for the radar to respond to the energy. Eventually, the results come into view. It shows the locations, which are all spread out. Great. I notice that two of the Chaos Emeralds are very close to each other. Maybe Sonic can go after those two emeralds, while we head for the rest. I explain that we each head for one emerald, while Sonic heads to get the other two. The gang agrees, and we all head to get the Emeralds.

Author's Note: These next few paragraphs are gonna be packed full of Sonic References, as well as Tails just reflecting and becoming more independent. Sorry if it's a bunch of words. I feel like I have to be consistent with this. Sorry. :(

   As I fly through the mountains to retrieve the Chaos Emerald, I start thinking about how I've been acting the past few adventures. I've been so inconsistent and haven't been very strong, upstanding or even supportive. When Sonic and I were on the Lost Hex, I was being very sarcastic, and was being selfish. When Infinite attacked, I turned into a coward and didn't stand up for myself at all.

   I didn't even help Sonic when he was on Planet Wisp. I was trying to help, but I just seemed like an idiot, a Player 2. I don't know what happened along the line, I just lost my heroism after a while. I wish I was what I used to be, whenever we were on the ARK. I stood up for myself, I didn't need the help of Sonic. THAT'S who I need to be! That's what everybody wants and needs! I'm going to stop being a coward and help my friends, no matter what the cost is!

   I arrive to where the emerald is and land next to the vault. As I reach for the emerald, 10 weird robots jump from the sky and all surround me, leaving me trapped! I need Soni- no Tails, I don't need him. I need to stay strong and fight for myself, just like I said I would.
