Chapter 1

Athena Eloise's POV

It's been 3 years since what happened and we're already married. It's our second Anniversary today and Acheron hasn't come home yet. He said he's busy working to the company of his friend. And the money that father gave us was used for our wedding so he had to work for us to live. I told him that we could sell the mansion we live in but he didn't want to so I let him go to job if that's what he wants.

He still hasn't come home and I'm a little nervous but I just cleaned up and waited in the living room. Since few days ago, he has been coming home early in the morning and when I call his friend who is his boss, he says that Acheron is coming home early. I was just thinking that he might have another job or something. I don't want my husband to suspect anything because that will only destroy our relationship.

I love him so I don't want us to break up just because I suspect him. I don't want him to think that I control him in what he wants to do. Sometimes I get irritated with myself because I always get suspicious when he doesn't come home early.

I was about to get up to go to our room when my cell phone rang. It was my friend, Daisy. Daisy became my friend a few days before Acheron and I got married and we already know each other. She got married just one year ago and she is very happy with her husband.

"Hi bestie!"that's the first thing she said when I answered her call."how are you?"

"still worried about Acheron because he hasn't come home yet."I answered her question and sighed.

"What?! I thought it was your second Anniversary today?!"she said angrily."Did you great him this morning or what?"

"No"

"The heck, Athena! I think he's sulkingor something."she stopped,"but if he's sulking, you said that he's going home early and sleep like you don't exist..."

"So what's your point?"i ask curiously.

"Did he leave y-"

"Damn, Daisy! Don't stress your friend like that!"i heard her husband, Derick, scolding her.

I just laughed because they are always like this when Daisy makes me overthink.

"Go away! This is girl's talk so go away."

"Fine! Whatever"

Ughh! Okay, let's continue."Daisy said,"Did you cook something?"

"Yeah, as always."I couldn't hide the worry and fear in my voice."do you think he can leave me after all i did just to be with him?"

I heard her sigh on the other line."Well, do you think so?" I can imagine her rolling her eyes."You know, you're stupid and fragile that's why your husband treats you like that."

"Treat like what?"

"He treats you like you're his mother and he doesn't say goodbye to you like before. Sis, I think you need to talk to him what his problem is because your situation might get worse."she said that made me think what happened since Acheron changed.

I closed my eyes tightly."Alright, I'll talk to him later when he gets home"

After we talked, we immediately said goodbye to each other because she needed to rest because she's not feeling well.

I sighed and looked around. Very quiet. It's always been like that around me since Acheron found a job. Even if I want to ask Acheron to have a baby, he's always tired from work so we can't talk because he goes straight to sleep when he always arrive.

What is his problem? Is he having trouble with his job? Why did he insist on working? We can sell this mansion and find a simple place to live. He seems to want to tire himself out.

I was in a daze when the big door suddenly opened and Acheron came. Looking at his face, i saw that he looks happy. Was he promoted at work?

I stood up and approached him."Love, why are you late?" I immediately asked, causing his facial expression to crumple.

"I always come home at this time, why are you still asking?" he whined.

I sighed."Don't you remember anything today?" I saw the confusion on his face,"it's our second anniversary today, Acheron!"I couldn't stop shouting because he was the one who prepared our first anniversary and he still do a surprise for me back then. But why did he change all of a sudden?

"Don't shout at me!" I was startled by the loudness of his shout,"I'm tired now, so can you let me some rest just a little bit?!"

I couldn't stop crying. He was like father, his voice was booming with anger.

"Are you crying infront of me!?" he held my jaw which made me cry even more, " stop crying, Athena! It's just an anniversary! Don't cry like a cry baby!"

I took his hand that was on my jaw and let it go."Just?! JUST!? that is the important thing that happened in our lives and it's just a small thing to you!? Your face is too thick to say that to my face- "I stopped talking when he suddenly slapped me. I cupped my numb cheeks as I looked at him.

"Stop it, Athena! Don't come to me before i punch your face!" he marched to the room while I sat on the floor, holding my numb cheek while crying. I stop the noise that will come out into my mouth.

How can he do this to me? He vowed that he will never hurt me mentally and physically, but what is this!? Did i do something wrong? Did i say something wrong? I just get mad because he didn't remember our anniversary! Why he hurt me?

I looked at the stairs when I heard footsteps and saw Acheron changed clothes but his face is still angry. I stood up when he got down completely. I walked to the kitchen comfortroom and looked at my face in the mirror. My cheek was red and swollen because of his slap. I cried silently when suddenly someone knocked that made me freeze for a sec.

"Is there food here?" he asked. I could still hear that he was angry so I immediately shut up before answering.

"The food I cooked is in the fridge, just heat it up." I answered. I washed up and went out of the comfortroom. I ignored him because I was still angry with him for slapping me. He didn't even move when I passed in front of him so I went straight to the guess room which was far from our room and just slept.

But before I could lie down on the bed, my cellphone suddenly rang. I saw Daisy calling using the messenger, earlier she only called my number and now she is requesting to make a video call. I immediately answered that and she immediately spoke.

"Sis, I'm really stressed right now! I want to go to the supermarket! Derick's face is irritating-wait!"she looked at me and i saw how her face get shocked,"what happened to your face!?"

"Let's talk tomorrow. I'm tired, Daisy."

"Just a moment-" I immediately turned off the video call and lay down on the bed. I don't want to be with Acheron for now. He hit me for the first time so I'm still shocked.

I fell asleep while i'm still angry at my husband, it's the first time that this happened, hurting me physically and mentally but the next day he didn't even apologize to me which made me feel heavy inside.
