"Antoine?  Where are you?"   Mala cried, no, screamed into the night air.

She knew he wouldn't respond, no matter how loud she called for him,  though.  He never did.  You see, he hated Mala.  Absolutely hated her.  He had never said why, though, but he did.  They used to be so close,  but not anymore.

"Evilyn?" She half wimpered, half yelled.

Of course,   Mala  knew Evilyn also  wouldn't answer her pleas.    Both Evilyn and Antoine had many things against Mala.  Many things that she didn't understand, and that they refused to tell her.    You would think, after so long without them,  the gap they left would be filled,  and the memory of the friendships that they shared would start to fade away..    But no.  Not for Mala.  It had been years since either of them had spoken to her,   and years since she had spoken to them.   But they had left pieces of her heart shattered to an irrepairable level.    A level that had instilled a fear in Mala that everyone would abandon or betray  her somehow..  Eventually.   And, after all of the death and depression that Mala's young eyes had seen;  that her young heart had felt..  She was also in a state of constant fear of losing anyone to that as well.

In short, she was very far beyond troubled,  and stuck,  without any visible way out of the messes she'd become a part of..

The guardian angel had fallen.  She could no longer fly..  And she doubted that anybody could ever help her fly again..

And it was terrifying..
