TW: case talk (bombs)

Davina's POV

I JOIN THE TEAM crowding around a long, rectangular table, dusting the remaining crumbs of my dodgy-looking lunch off my hands. "Garcia, have you had any luck with the CCTV footage yet?" Hotch asks, leaning on the table with his palms flat against it.

"I'm working on it, but there's a lot of footage to go through, and a lot of people to watch," Penelope replies from the other side of the line.

"Keep on it." He says, "Everyone else, what do we have?" On the way back from the hospital, we had phoned the rest of the team to lay out the information we had from Tiana, giving Garcia a head start.

Derek sets out some pictures which look to be the inside of a bomb, "I've never seen an explosive device like this, it's homemade," He tells, pointing at the photo, "The wiring here is uniquely coded, but it is highly sophisticated. This UNSUB knows what he's doing."

We were missing something here. Something obvious. I rattle through my thoughts, and it must have shown on my face, because Rossi speaks out, "Davina, what are you thinking?"

I shake my head, addressing the group, "I think we've been missing the most obvious thing. First a bomb testing unit, second, a chemical testing lab. The UNSUB didn't pick these locations at random."

"The chemical testing lab is the penultimate step before the explosives are taken to the bomb testing unit, maybe there's crossovers with who works there." Rossi clarifies.

I nod, continuing, "The second bomb went off during a staff meeting, and I would bet that when you look at the sign-up sheet for that meeting, one of the people on the list would have been at the testing unit. And if I'm right, it would be the same person that our witness saw this morning."

"But would he have had time to plant the device before he left?" JJ questions.

"I have your answer," Penelope shouts out, stopping our conversation in its tracks, "The man our witness saw arrived at the foyer just 14 minutes before the bomb went off this morning. He had a seemingly heated conversation with the receptionist, and then was seen leaving the building 7 minutes later."

"So, he did have time to plant the bomb," Derek concludes, to which I nodded.

"Get an ID on him, Garcia," Hotch instructs.

"On it sir." She replies perkily.

"One thing that Davina hasn't thought about though," Emily joins in from opposite me at the table, "What would be the trigger for this? No one is going to randomly begin blowing things up without a reason."

Something in the way she said that really ground my gears, but I thought it best not to show it. I reply, "Maybe he was in an accident involving bombs or was fired from the companies. Identifying the trigger is only really going to be feasible once we have the actual UNSUB ID, Emily."
