Cassiopeia Evergreen never had a bad home life.
She just never had a real family.
She was born into a wealthy and well-known family. Her father, James, was a successful Aruour but he was barley home. Her mother, Cynthia, was a best-selling author that traveled the world the find new exciting stories to write about. And her brother, Marcus, was 8 years older, played professional quiddich, and was a dickhead.
Cassiopeia often felt alone. The holidays were the worst time for her as she had a very little relationship with her family. Whenever her father was present, he was drunk out of his mind and never left his office. And Cassi's mother was so miserable at home, she would leave almost as soon as she would arrive. And like previously mentioned, Marcus was a dick. Thankfully, her best friend, Chloe's, family loved her. Cassi spent most of her schooldays and holidays with Chloe. They met in their second year when paired in the same dorm. The two girls were rarely seen apart. Cassi and Chloe, they had the relationship everyone wanted.
But while Cassi had an amazing friend she could tell anything she often found herself falling into a sense of numbness. Laying in bed at night, or starting at the wall in class, all Cassi felt was emptiness. She put on a brave face though and convinced her freinds and teachers she was fine. But all Cassi really wanted to not have to suffer anymore.
This is a story about a girl struggling but she's still a girl worthy of love.

The air around me was cool. I stood against the stone wall as I looked over the top of the rails of the astronomy tower. I took a long drag of my cigarette and exhaled into the starry sky. I inspected the shiny stars and tried to see if I could recognise any. It had been a long day, a long day of prentening everything was fine. School started a few days ago and all that was on my mind was the horrible screaming fight I got in with my brother on the way to the train station. Marcus was tasked with taking me there and he was very unhappy. Long story short, he dumped all of his promblems onto me and made them my fault. This left me feeling very icky while on my way to Hogwarts. What made it worse was that no one noticed I was upset. Chloe and my other friends didn't even ask how my holidays were.
My phone vibrated in my pocket.

readI looked back out at the sky, sighing deeply. I finished my cigarette and decided to scroll pointlessly social media until Chloe came to the tower. The heavy door creaked open and Chloe's eyes fell on the light jumper I was wearing
"Cass where is your coat?" she questioned, "its freezing."
I looked at her and shrugged. Somehow she noticed the sad look in my eye. But like usual Chloe said nothing about it.
"come on, let go to bed"
She grabbed my shoulder and turned me to the door. We both walked in silence back to our dorms, that was one of the things I loved about Chloe, we could sit in silence for hours and have it be not awkward.
I always loved the castle at night. How quite all the halls where and the sounds the paintings made as they slept. The way the moonlight danced against the walls. How my footsteps echoed as I walked on the aged marble. Chloe and I got back to our dorm and said a silent goodnight to each other as our other friends had a normal sleep schedule and were already in deep slumber. Chloe slipped into bed as I made my way to the shared bathroom.
I squinted in the bright yellow light and made my way to my sink. I stared at my reflection in the mirror and truly didn't recognise who I saw. I wanted to cry. I did cry.
I washed off my makeup and left the bathroom and made my way into bed. I loved the beds in Hogwarts. They had to softest matrices and quilts that felt like a warm hug. Searching around for my cord to plug my phone in. I laid in bed sighed at the memory of a Transfiguration essay due in two days. Slowly but surely I fell asleep and woke up the next morning to the annoying sound of my alarm.
