Kathrine's pov:

I was curled up on a ball on the bed as soon as we got back to Rafe's house. The curtains were closed therefore the room was almost pitch-black -apart from the small slithers if light that crept both under and over the top of the curtains. I didn't know how to feel and I was really sure what I was feeling. Maybe a mix of mental tiredness, fright and pain? Whilst procrastinating in my thoughts, I didn't notice the person sit down beside me.
"Hey, baby girl. You feeling any better?" I shook my head at Topper's calming voice- it was never like this when it was just Rafe and I. He was always so difficult and overprotective, but with Topper here I think he'd started to learn to let me let loose a bit more.
I popped an eye open, as he sat on the end. My eyes flickered for a bit before I answered, I still felt extremely tired and drained. Somehow.
"How much do you know?" I asked him, pulling strands of my own hair through my fingers. He sighed and leaned closer towards me. He didn't speak, he only sent me a look. The look. As if to say: 'trust me'. I couldn't though, not entirely.
I closed my eyes again. I felt his breath over my head and then his lips across mine. Our mouths moulded together in silent harmony, one of his hands gently stroked my cheek.
"Anything I can do to help, princess?" He nuzzled his face into my neck. I thought for a second... or a while before answering him.
"Yes." Topper picked his head up, "Take me to the kegger tonight, on the beach."
He smiled, "Will it take your mind off it?"
I nodded and sat up, placing a hand on my forehead as I saw white flickers of light cloud my vision. I tried to stand up, but had to lean back against the bed frame. I suddenly felt queasy and faint. Almost falling over. Almost.
"Woah, Kat. When did you last have something to eat?" Topped asked, standing up and holding me steadily by my hips.
"I'm fine, Top."
"That wasn't my question-"
We were interrupted by Wheezie walking in. She paused and pulled her hand up to cover her mouth, "You two-"
"Wheezie, don't." Topper warned, putting a finger, sharply against his lips.
"But what about Rafe, you're cheating on him?!" She gasped, her hand still over her mouth.
"It's not like that, Wheezie." Topper said, sitting me back onto the edge of the bed. He hold out his hand, stopping me from falling again. She looked confused, as if she was about to make a run for it.
"Rafe's not in, he went to help Ward tidy up the coast." I told her, catching my breath.
"It's complicated." Topper informed her.
The young girl shook her head before leaving to room, leaving the two of us alone again.
"What do you think she'll do?" Topper asked me, holding my fragile torso against his.
"The worst scenario she'll tell Sarah, she won't tell Ward or Rose if that's what you're wondering."
"How do you know?" He kissed my forehead gently.
"I've been here for a long time remember. No one's brave enough to talk to Ward about their problems, he's a monster. I swear he's killed someone at least once in his life, if not brutally injured someone. He just seems like that type of person- secretive." I half-joked, leaning back in my boyfriends warm body.
He nods, "I'm going to get you some food from the shops. You going to be ok here alone?"
"Yeah I'll be fine, Top. Rose and Wheezie are here."
"Uh huh." He mumbles, bringing me in for a deep kiss before walking to the door, "Love you!"
"Love you too." I giggled as he skipped out of the room. Weirdo.
I smile, knowing he will be here for us always.

A few hours later, Topper turns the car engine off and we get out of it. The beach is packed full of: Pogues, Kooks and tourists. The Pogues had hosted it and I expected them to be standing around the kegger, offering it to new tourists and telling them bullshit about us. I wasn't really a beer person, but I came here to take my mind off everything and maybe see some of my childhood friends again. Perhaps even socialise with them if Topper lays off me. As we wonder around, we see Sarah standing on a tall metal pole. "Sarah!" I shout, jogging over to her. Topper is behind me yelling at her to get down and that it's dangerous.
I understand that he still has feelings for her, it's understandable since she dumped him. He still cares for her and I'm fine with that. To be honest I'm still not over my ex completely yet. (But I hope to god that Top and Rafe will never have to meet the son if a bitch.) Finally Sarah jumps back down, onto the sand. "What?" She asks like a lunatic flailing her arms around and chaotically laughing.
"You terrify me sometimes, Sarah Cameron." I told her, now also chuckling. Topper stood behind me: both of his arms crossed tightly against his chest and a stern look imprinted on his face. I burst out laughing just at the sight of him. He glared at me playfully, before lifting me over his shoulder and running away toward the crowd with me. I gathered that Sarah was already too hammered to remember anything from tonight and it wasn't like anyone else was going to intervene.
"Put me down!" I laughed, smacking his back. Topper swung me around, before placing me back onto the floor. We stared at each other for a moment- I broke the silence by smashing my lips up against his. "Beer?" He asks me, I nod.
