i unclasped the straps that held my feet onto the board as the deafening crowd surged toward me. the feeling was surreal. i had landed every trick flawlessly and won the competition. but that didn't matter. i had landed the cloud nine. i had become the first person ever to land it.

the announcer was struggling to speak over the crowd but i couldn't hear a thing. my vision was clouded and i could feel a big smile growing on my face as the realization of my feat sunk in. dink pushed through the crowd, picking me up and hoisting me to sit on his shoulder. he beamed up at me, chanting my name over and over again.

the crowd pushed forward, jumping and dancing around me. dink handed the trophy up to me and i held it high above my head. the crowd cheered even louder and i searched for the one face i couldn't help but look for.

will.

he was standing towards the back, by himself. kayla had left his side to join dink in cheering for me. a big smile stretched across will's lips as he watched me float around on dink's shoulder. in that moment, he couldn't have been happier. i waved to him and he gave me a little wave back, chuckling to himself. he ducked behind the nearest building and i knew i was meant to follow.

i slid off dink's shoulder and handed him the trophy, giving him a look. he smiled at me and lightly pushed my shoulder, urging me on.

i weaved through the crowd effortlessly. they seemed to be too focused on dancing that it was easy to go unnoticed. as i rounded the corner, will pulled me into a fierce hug.

finally, he pulled away, holding me at arm's length. his eyes scanned my face quickly before settling into a staring contest with my own.
"i love you. always have, always will." he breathed out, a small smile dancing on his lips.

i felt my corners of my mouth tug into an even bigger smile.
"i love you more." at my confession, he leaned down and crashed his lips into mine.
