Kalani's POV.

Harlem, NY.

I was getting ready for school since I had skipped yesterday.

"Cmon baby i'll give you 5 more minutes!" I heard my mom shout from downstairs.

Lately my moms mood had brightened since my dad had came home.

My sister had been at jays house more fearing what our family would turn into since dad came back.

Me on the other hand I couldn't get dd off my mind for some reason.

I didn't like him, and I hadn't talked to him since that cuddling incident.

I thought it was going to be awkward. Hopefully he forgot about it.

"Okay ma i'm ready" I said pacing downstairs with my bookbag hanging on my shoulder.

"Alright let's go get starbucks on the way." She said as she dingled her keys in the air.

"Okk" I said as I skipped out the door.

It's been a while since me and my mom had bonded like this.

I didn't like the fact that my supposedly father was back but I liked the idea of my mother at peace.

We had made it to starbucks.

"Ma I want a strawberry açaí refresher" I said as I tapped her on her shoulder.

She nodded as she went to order.

We finally got our drinks and I took a few photos with my starbucks.

"It's been a while since I had starbucks" I said.

This drink was so good it's my favorite.

We finally made it to school.

"Bye ma" I said as I kissed her cheek and got out the car, grabbing my bookbag with me.

"Bye baby!" she shouted waving at me as she drove off.

For once I went to school with a smile on both my face and my moms.
