"Ow!" The auburn haired girl complained as she wacked her older sister's hand. "Stop touching me, you whore!"
"Stop touching me, you whore!" Her older sister mocked as she laughed, still gripping her sister's neck. "I'll let go if you do my chores for today- no, my chores for the whole week. Choose wisely, little sister, or I won't let go."
"Mia." The deep voice of their father had the two girls straightening. "Leave your sister alone."
She scoffed and retreated her hand, "Fine."
"The Legion will be leaving the walls for another expedition-" he raised his finger, stopping his daughters from protesting. "I get it you girls think it's dangerous, which it is- but, it's my job as captain to lead my squad, understand?"
They slowly nodded.
"I love you, girls." He said as he left the house, quickly coming back in to aim an accusing finger at his oldest. "You better take care of Ri instead of bullying her."
"What? I don't-"
"Shut up, you do." Arisa said and flicked her off. "Anyways, come back home alive."
The redhead smiled and nodded, "I will."
After days of anxiety, the girls got their father back. Or whatever was left of him at least. All that came back from him was his bloody cloak and a vertical half of his body, his once bright blue eye(s) looking dull and gray.
"So much for coming back home alive." Mia said before storming off after his burial ceremony, leaving her sister alone in the cemetery, her dad's cloak tightly in her hands.
"You're leaving without saying good-bye?" Arisa said loudly over her shoulder. "So much for taking care of me, right?"
"I'm transferring regiments." said Mia as she turned to face her sister. "You won't see me for a while. Commander Pixis will come tomorrow to take you to Aunt Lex."
"What?" Arisa turned to glare at her sister. "She lives in Shiganshina! That's on Wall Maria!"
"It's already been done, Arisa." Mia started to walk away, not daring to look back. "You'll be fine."
"Time to wake up!"
The auburn haired teen let out a loud 'oof' , gasping for breath after the brunette threw herself on top of her once sleeping figure.
"Ugh, Sasha, get off me." She said, gently pushing the loud girl off her bed. "You're too heavy for my delicate body."
"Come on, Ari!" Sasha pulled her blanket away, receiving a loud groan from her friend. "Hurry or I'll eat your breakfast."
"I'm up, I'm up." Arisa abruptly stood up, stumbling over her blanket before face planting flat on the ground.
Sasha laughed, crouching to pat the girl's head, "That looked like it hurt. I'll go save us a spot in the dining area."
Dodging people on her way to the dining area, Arisa finally noticed Sasha and her friends in the back, a serious expression on their faces as they talked about god knows what.
"What are we talking about?" She took her spot next to the brunette that was gulping down her food. "Why do you look serious?" Arisa questioned the male.
