I never wanted to feel that fear again.

"Can you say something?" Dinah asked me as she was driving us back from LAX after I took a flight the second Sofia told me about what was spreading on the internet.

I blanched seeing the camera shaking around from Lauren and Catalina before showing blood splattered on the floor, immediately I went to call her but she wasn't answering. I wish I'd gotten frustrated, but my chest started to bob trying to catch my breath on the third time I called her. Even texts weren't seen as I spammed her with the same question over and over.

Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay.

Mami and Sofia tried to settle me down as I shakily tapped away at my phone for flights leaving the city. I found out going out at twelve in the morning and getting there at five thirty. I booked it with my digital wallet in almost seconds before letting my phone clatter on the counter before making my way to my room to pack for my trip. I couldn't even speak as all I could sputter out was Lauren's name and that I have to go. My mother grabbed my shoulders before holding me tightly, calmly whispering to me that she'd pack my things for me while Sofia made me a tea. She didn't let me go till my breath was steady. I was thankful for that.

"I just want to see her," I said keeping my arms tightly wrapped around my torso feeling comforted by how soft my black sweater was.

"I told you, she just got a laceration on her-"

"Chee-Chee," I shook my head while closing my eyes trying to push away that panic again, "Are we close?"

"Yeah pulling up to the neighborhood," she nodded stirring into the long winding road and also stirring away from whatever she was going to tell me.

Dinah was the third person I called. The second being Catalina who answered the phone a blubbering mess, I almost felt my heart stop thinking something went very wrong, but Katie took her phone explaining to be they were in the ER and explaining Lauren's condition. Later saying they'd be back at her house by the morning to which I told her thank you for letting me know before Roger stole the phone asking me if he needed to book a plane for me to get there private. I assured him I already got one heading out in two hours, a little comforted how he knew I was making my way there.

Once at the gate we made our way in the long round driveway to see there were two people dressed in uniforms standing by the door, I could barely make out some security company's name on the upper right of their polos as Dinah parked her truck behind other vehicles. I recognized the usual SUV Roger rented out when he was in the state along with Normani's fancy new sports car. Lauren's car was on the deep end completely blocked in letting me know she was all in one vehicle with everyone. I didn't give Dinah time to turn off the car as I bounced out of my seat as I made my way to the man and woman standing by the door.

They looked me over and they seemed to ready to ask me who I was, but I didn't give them a chance. "Lauren's my woman-excuse me." Walking past them I pushed through the big doors only to see a group of people gathered by the beautifully furnished living room.

Roger's eyes lit up as he walked over to gently squeeze my arm while I saw Katie sitting with Catalina who was wrapped up in a blanket. Her eyes pink and puffy before she hid them away behind the blanket. Normani was standing by with a mug in her hand just smiling at me sadly. "I'm so glad you got here safe-"

"Where is she?" I looked up the stairs as Roger nodded his head.

"In her room," he said and I beelined for the tiled staircase, "She refused any morphine for the pain so it really hit her when we got back."
