Chapter 42

The same day, 11:14 pm

In the bunker

Claire's POV

I'm in my room, looking for a better hiding spot for my cigarettes. Well, the ones that Dean didn't take from me. I worked hard to steal these cigarettes, and hide them from Sam and Dean, just for them to take them away? No. I don't fucking think so. They're mine, and I might not be able to get those packs back, but I can try not to get this pack found. This might actually be the last pack of cigarettes that I was able to steal without anybody noticing. So I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts, which won't be long.

Sam: Claire. He calls from outside my bedroom door, making me jump You in there?

Claire: Yeah. Just a second.

I throw the cigarettes in my closet and close the door. Then I open my bedroom door for Sam, who smells like coffee. Why the hell does he smell like coffee, when it's almost the middle of the night? Whatever. I don't care.

Claire: What do you want?

Sam: I'm just checking on you. You ok?

Claire: I'm fine. But I'm still mad at you, and I don't wanna talk to you.

Sam: Kid, you know you brought that on yourself. If you hadn't been smoking, like you knew you weren't supposed to be-

Claire: I know, Dude. I got that lecture like 7 times. I don't need it again.

Sam: We're gonna lecture you about this until we think you understand. You shouldn't be smoking. We've already established that. But you also shouldn't be stealing. That's a problem that you've been having, even before the smoking thing. So maybe, solve your stealing problem, and we won't have to keep having these lectures with you. You can solve your own problem here, Kid. You just have to not steal. It's not that hard, is it?

I don't steal because it's hard not to. I steal because I can, and because it's fun. I've never been arrested or in any legal trouble for it, so I don't see the problem. Now, if I was to get arrested for it, I might stop. But no store that I've ever stolen from has ever caught me. So I don't see the problem, or the point of this conversation.

Claire: You're talking like you've never stolen anything before.

I know for a fact that he and Dean have stolen before. Hell, they're probably still on the FBI's most wanted list. And he wants to talk to me about stealing? I think that should be the least of his worries. I might like to steal, but at least I'm not on the FBI's most wanted list.

Sam: When's the last time you saw or heard about one of us stealing?

Claire: I haven't recently, but you guys still use fake credit cards. That's like, the same thing as stealing.
