Never Alone// Christian Akridge(leave)

Chapter 1

"Mom, can I please borrow your bank card?" I yelled up the stairs of our new house. My voice echoed. "For what?" She yelled back. "I just wanna go to the mall & buy a shirt or something, it'll probably only cost like 20 bucks." I stopped, she didn't reply right away so I added that I wanted to get out of the house and see if I could meet some new people before school started. She came down the stairs & extended her arm with the card in her hand. "Here." she said."Only because you have no friends." she said teasing me. I laughed and took the card from her. "Thanks mom!" I started walking to the door and right before I shut it she yelled, "No more than 30 dollars!"

It was just my mom and I so money was pretty tight. I was actually surprised she let me go. My dad gave her child support & everything but sometimes that just wasn't enough. My dad was still in the picture but he lived in a different state so I only got to see every few months. He was good to us, If my mom asked for more money he would always help out, no questions asked. However, although my mom and him were on good terms, she felt like if she asked him for money it was as sign that she needed him to live comfortably. So, she rarely ever asked for help. I always knew it was a pride thing & I totally understood why she it but sometimes it would be nice to have a little extra money.

The mall was about a 25 minute walk from my house so I didn't even bother to ask my mom for a ride. Besides, It wouldn't hurt to get to know the area. I had moved here about a week ago. I didn't really leave the house much because I had nothing to do. It was the middle of summer so I didn't really have anyway of making friends. I wasn't really worried because I move a lot but it was usually in the middle of the school year and in most cases, everyone wanted to be friends with the new kid. " I'm sure I'll meet someone soon enough" I thought to myself.

I finally got to the mall. There wasn't a lot of people here, but everyone that was here was in groups of at least 2 - 4. I felt a little insecure walking around alone but I carried on. I went into a couple stores and found a few cute things but nothing that I thought I had to have. I walked into Hollister and seen a really cute crewneck sweater that was only $25. I tried it on and really liked it so I stared walking to the cashier. As I was walking to the front of the store a girl came up to me and tapped me on the shoulder. "Hi, this might seem really weird but where did you get yourhoodie? I love it!", the girl asked. "Umm, I'm not 100% sure, I think I bought it online a couple years ago." I responded. "Do you know what site?" She question with a lot of energy. "No, sorry. I have no clue." I said. She looked a little disappointed. "Oh..okay" she said in a very monotone voice. She started to walk away. I called her back, "I might have the receipt somewhere. I usually keep them if I buy it online." I said hoping she would respond positively. I knew this was my chance to make a friend, I couldn't blow it. "Really?" she sounded cheery. "Yeah! Im sure i have it somewhere. Do you wanna give me your phone number and I can text it to you when I find it?" I was really nervous to ask her that. I was worried she would think I was weird. She looked like she was alone too though so maybe she didn't have a lot of friends. "That would be awesome", she reached out & put her number in my phone. "I'm Carly by the way." she smiled. " I'm Kayla." I told her I had to go but that i would look for the receipt when I got home.

I left the mall shortly after that. When I got home I found the receipt in my sock drawer. That was where I kept anything I didn't want to lose. I texted her a picture of it.

Kayla; (picture) I'm pretty sure this is where I got it from.

Carly; Oh cool. thank you!

Kayla; Ya. anytime (:

Carly; Hey, I forgot to ask. Are you new around here? Wichita falls is a pretty small place, pretty much everyone know everyone and I dont recognize you.

Kayla; Ya, I moved here about a week ago. It's really nice here.

Carly; hmm yeah I guess its okay. There isn't a ton of people so it can get boring. Do you wanna hangout sometime? I can introduce you to some of my friends too if you want?

Kayla; Yes! I'd love too! What are you doing tomorrow?

Carly; I was supposed to go on a date with my boyfriend Austin.

Kayla; Oh ok. Maybe another time.

Carly; OMG WILL YOU COME WITH ME?

Kayla;what? on you're date? haha

Carly: Yeah! Austin is always bugging me to bring one of my friends on like a double with his friend Christian!

Kayla; lol ok I'll come I guess? hahaha what are we doing?

Carly; Yay! Ill tell Austin & Christian! oh and probably just a movie or something!

Kayla; hahaha okay let me know & I guess I'll see you tomorrow.

Carly; Bye!

a/n: sorry this was really long & didn't have anything to do with christian really. i wasn't sure how to start. I will try to make it better though! Sorry. there will be lots of christian in the upcoming chapters!
