A week later, King Kai delivered the worst news in the world via telepathy to those on Earth with Goku's steady hand on King Kai's shoulder. Once he finished, Vegeta reacted first, in the only way Vegeta could:
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S ALMOST HERE?!" Slapping a hand onto King Kai's other shoulder, he yelled, "WOMAN! You said he was three months out!"
Bulma snapped back, "And I warned you it was an estimate! Repeatedly!"
"FUCK!"
"According to the data, the speed of his pod drastically accelerated a week ago, so instead of the estimated time frame—"
"No shit! Give me the ETA."
"Thirty minutes and counting." Vegeta snarled at Bulma's report. "I can see his pod on the computer screen here and it's coming in fast."
Goku interjected, asking, "Is it going to land anywhere near people?"
"The computer says no," Bulma answered. "Every possible landing site within a hundred kilometer radius is void of any people."
Vegeta sighed in relief. "Good, less shit to worry about."
Over the telepathic link, Piccolo asked, "So what's the plan then?"
Raditz replied: "How about 'don't die'?" A loud smack echoed over the link. "OW!"
Goku giggled, shaking his head. Vegeta rolled his eyes before saying, "Great input, genius. Piccolo, you and Nappa get to the area Bulma's predicting Dodoria will land and wait for him to arrive. Have Gohan wait in a clearing nearby. He should fight only if you need the manpower. Raditz, stay behind with ChiChi—"
"WHAT?! Vegeta!"
"She needs protection in case shit goes south!"
"UGH, fine."
"Bulma, are you safe in the lab? Is it secure?"
"Well." A soft sigh, and then Bulma answered: "As secure as it can be against a guy who's apparently stronger than you."
"Hm. Okay then. Kakarot's friends—you shits still better be on the line—" The familiar sound of Kami's exasperated huff brought a smile to Vegeta's face. "—are any of you willing to forgo the fight?"
Before anyone could answer, Raditz snapped, "Oh, so they get a say and I don't?!"
"Shut up Raditz! Well?"
"I'll do it," Yamcha answered. "Tien says he'll back me up with Chiaotzu." He chuckled. "We got stronger training with Kami, but man, we know how strong you are, Vegeta, and we don't stand a chance. The least we can do is help Bulma and her family to safety if the need arises."
"Good man. Thank you Yamcha." He smirked at Yamcha's tell-tale giggle. In his purview, Goku shook his head with a wry smile. The man was way too obvious with his crush. "Give my thanks to the others as well."
Goku asked, "I'm assuming Krillin will be joining the fight?"
"Oh yeah," Yamcha responded with a laugh. "He's way stronger than us and has a sick new move too!"
"Awesome! That's great to hear!"
"Have him wait with Gohan," Vegeta ordered. "I don't trust him to not interfere until absolutely necessary."
Goku sighed. "Vegeta—"
Snapping his attention to Goku, Vegeta deadpanned, "He's impulsive, emotional and reckless like you, but with an attitude like me. The kid needs a babysitter, end of discussion." He ignored Goku's eye roll and subsequent annoyed growl, continuing on. "As for Kakarot and I, we need time to get back. With how much stronger the two of us are, our ETA is around three hours, maybe two if we push it. But I'd like to hold our energy reserves for the fight." His tone lowered, his face turning grim. "This will not be an easy fight. Dodoria is ruthless." He eyed Goku as he said, "He possesses no mercy, so neither should any of you. Fight to your last breath. Hold nothing back."
