"If you could have one power, what would it be?"
No one said anything. Three men sat there, trapped in their own thoughts with just a light buzz as background noise. Of course, it didn't take long for one of them to finally break the silence.
"Water bending would be pretty badass," Myles jokes around from a bench that he had let himself sprawl across.
No one was surprised by his answer. Myles always loved the water. Growing up with his grandma he went to the beach everyday. Stories of how his Aubela had to chase him down after he got his first surfboard always made people laugh.
"Waylon?" The room falls silent once more as his friend stares at the ground, letting the burning sensation taint his arm.
Waylon had become addicted to tattoos. Not many people approved of his impulsive decisions to get a tattoo anytime something bugged him but he liked the feeling. He loved how the ink would settle in his skin. It made him proud in a way. Myles was one of the only people that encouraged him to continue getting tattoos. Well Myles and Derek. Derek just happened to be his tattoo artist though. He was almost convinced it was just because Myles couldn't get any himself.
"A power." He grumbles to himself, turning his head to look at his friend. Grins start to form on their faces as a thought runs between them.
"Why are you two looking at each other like that?" Derek grumbles and Myles glances at the artist who seemed to be watching Waylon's arm carefully as he drags the needle along it.
"Waylon wants to read minds." Myles confirms which leads the man to chuckle at the response. Waylon can't help but look at him as he takes the needle from his skin for a moment. He watches as the man looks between the two, shaking his head at the options.
"You both could have picked world saving abilities and you picked childrens answers." He points out. His words earn a chuckle from Waylon who lets his eyes slide to the window.
Rain had been pouring down for the past few hours and he honestly didn't know what it was going to stop. Myles and he had planned on going to bars afterwards but they both decided against it after seeing the rain. Last time Myles got drunk he was found in an alley reciting lines for his newest movie. Getting drunk on a night like tonight wouldn't be a good idea.
"I could save the world with water-"
"You're an idiot. I mean that with the most respect." Derek cuts Myles off, moving his eyes to Waylon who sat watching the rain with a blank face. "Let's take a break." He pats Waylon's knee, drawing him out of his trance.
Myles watches as the man gets up, throwing things away as he hums to a song that was playing.
"Do you think Kira would get a tattoo?" Waylon suddenly asks and Myles can't help but let out a small scoff at his words.
"Kira? As in your girlfriend? Who hates yours?" Myles asks and Waylon nods slowly.
The two sit there for a moment as Myles thinks of something to say but he knew no matter what he said it wouldn't change anyone's mind. He'd been trying to make Waylon understand that Kira wasn't going to change for awhile.
"No, she wouldn't." Waylon confirms himself before leaning back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. He was drifting into his own thoughts once again.
Myles has known him since they were about 17. Almost a decade of friendship and he still can't understand why he'd let himself get stuck in a relationship with a girl he's never even liked.
