Puss in Boots: Nothing to Fear

Perchance to Dream

"Help...." He hissed in pain as something broken within shifted as he moved through the dark forest, his voice echoing through the forest as blood spilled from chapped lips and open wounds.

"Please..." He sputtered, a choked sob escaping his throat as he stumbled through the dark forest, searching for any kindness in the darkness.

The shadow of a wolf mocked and laughed at him from within his own mind as he slid down a nearby tree, his body growing heavier and his head pounding. He choked as he forced himself to stand as pain ripped through his chest and knees as he limped his way further in the dark forest.

"Kitty Softpaws!" In a desperate attempt to get the feline's attention, puss rolled onto his paws, knees, and forced himself to crawl. Not knowing if he would succeed, he had one shot and prayed it would work.

Puss was trapped in a dream, floating along, unable to stop.

Suddenly, everything came rushing back to him like a long-forgotten nightmare.

Puss jumped off the bed and screamed. Into the house he raced.

"Damn!" He sure does have some energy, Kitty Softpaws cursed.

Kitty Softpaws caught a glimpse of Puss in a state of panic, his eyes were awash with emotions, he was in turmoil with pain, anger, fear, and a crushing feeling of being trapped.

A step back from Puss as he stared at her as if she was a monster, he fled in another direction. Fear kept him going, forcing him to run, screaming in his head begging him to escape. Panicked, Puss ran around the house, not knowing where he was or who was chasing him. All he knew was that he had to get out. The world around him was blurry, and the sounds seemed muffled. Voices were calling his name, teasing him, and teaching him. But he didn't slow down. He had to get out.

Suddenly he was grabbed from behind and Puss screamed turning to face his captor with the intent to claw his or her eyes out but all he saw was black and he heard a voice that was familiar tears streaming down his fur before his eyes remained closed.
