Clone Wars and Bad Batch one-shots!

Reality

This one shot is after echo is rescued from skako minor and Rex has to explain everything he missed. Including fives' death.

Rex had just disconnected echo from the machine that he had been trapped in, it took echo a few seconds to figure out what was happening until he said "Rex, where's fives?" Rex froze turning pale. Fives was gone and echo didn't know.

Rex couldn't get his words out to tell echo fives had died so Anakin had to intervene. "Echo, I- something happened we will explain when we get on the ship but we have to go now!" Echo nodded knowing that means bad news.

Once they were all safe and back onto the ship Rex took a deep breath and went to talk to echo. "Echo I owe you an explanation about fives." Echos head shot up from the floor as he wanted to know what happens whilst he was being held captive.

"He-he thought the clones were being controlled by organic chips that could make the clones do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted" echo just stared wide eyed curious as to what had happened. "Fives believed Tup's chip had activated early because he shot down general tiplar then forgot what happened and was acting, weird straight after, he also kept saying the words 'good soldiers follow orders' and no one know why or what had happened but fives was determined to figure it out."

Echo let out a slight laugh while saying "typical fives" and he was right fives would've done anything to protect his brothers and would've believed their stories even if there was no way they were true. Rex looked down, why didn't he just believe him, maybe if he just put his blasters on his belt this wouldn't have happened, I should've been there for him. It's my fault.

Echo could almost read Rex's thoughts just by his facial expression "fives is dead, isn't he" Rex gave a little nod as the arc trooper leaned back in his chair and starred at the ceiling thoughts rushing through his mind as of what he could've done to prevent it, I shouldn't have ran to the ship, I should've stayed with fives. The last words he ever heard from his vod were "echo no!" And he would remember that for the rest of his life.

Silent tears ran down both of their faces before echo let out a loud sob which caught Anakin's attention but realised what Rex had said just moments later and decided to give them privacy. Rex looked at his vod trying to think of the best way to comfort him and he decided it was a hug, echo collapsed onto Rex's chest still letting out loud sobs every few cries and Rex was barely keeping it together but wanted to be strong for echo.

There was a lot more stuff that echo had to be told but this was enough for now, when they get back to kamino Rex with have help from Jesse and Kix to explain everything else, which was a comforting thought.
