He leans over and presses the call for help button. "They better hurry up or I'm going to be late for work.", he says looking concerned. The elevator starts ringing annoyingly as he sighs. "I guess I'm stuck with you for the next twenty minutes or so... Lucky me.", the man states sarcastically, frowning.
"Dido.", I reply blowing a strand of hair out of my face. "Aww, c'mon. It's not that bad...", I say trying to remain optimistic.
"There's no AC in here.", he comments, still frowning.
"Good point... So what's your occupation?", I ask trying to make polite conversation.
"None of your business.", he says, smugly.
"Well, excuse me but I didn't know it was a secret.", I fired back.
"If you must know: I'm a dentist.", the man replies. "See...", he smiles and a perfect set of pearly whites stare back at me.
"That proves nothing.", I state while taking in his appearance. He has brown hair on his head and eyes the color of coffee with a little bit of creamer in them. His lip is too full for the top one and he has five o' clock shadow. I think his shirt said Gotham before I spilt my smoothie on it. The background for it is black and it shows off his muscles nicely. He's wearing pants and sneakers. I have to admit he looks really good. "So I never got your name...", I remind him.
"What's it to you?", the man questions raising his right eyebrow.
"I just wanted to know, for future references.", I answer.
"Well, If you don't believe I'm a dentist than don't believe me... Oh, and it's Kevin, by the way.", he tells me with smirk.
"That's a nice name.", I reply.
"Thanks. What's yours?", he asks.
"Stacy. Nice to meet you, Kevin.", I say, smiling and extending my hand.
"Nice to meet you as well, Stacy.", Kevin replies shaking my hand with his right hand.
"Righty?"
"Ambidextrous, actually." He equally matches my smile with his own. I let go of his right hand with my left. "Lefty?"
"Yeah..."
"So where do you work?"
"I work at home writing books."
"About what exactly...?"
"Mystery thrillers or sometimes romance."
"Huh. Nonfiction?"
"I only write fiction."
"You should tell truths..."
"Maybe you're right..."
"Where do you live?"
"Over on Jason's. You?"
"I live on Jacob's."
"Seriously! That's only four blocks away from Jason's!!"
"Oh, really? I didn't know you live near me..."
"Small world..." I smirk at him.
"What's your favorite color?"
"Purple."
"Blue."
"Favorite song?"
"Valley of the Shadow of Death."
"Three Little Birds."
"Ahh. A Marley fan. Don't see those everyday. Classic." He gives me a smile. "Favorite food?"
"Cheese pizza. You?"
"Pepperoni pizza."
"Favorite beverage?"
"Coke."
"Grape Fanta."
"Favorite movie?"
"The Avengers."
"Furious 7. Can I get your number?"
I didn't see why not... So I shrugged and said, "Sure. It's 763-5982."
"Thanks."
The elevator stops ringing and opens.
"Finally.", I sigh in relief.
"I'll call you later, Stacy.", Kevin says over his shoulder as he runs out of the elevator.
