This is day 2 of me journaling.
People say to act my age, like I have never been my age before; and I have to look up to so many people my age, that it is so hard to keep track of what my age is doing, so how can people say act my age, when they don't even know what they are doing. People are also learning how to act their age, so how can you tell someone to act their age when you only experienced your age for 365 days, and by the time you have an idea of what people do your age, you're already the next age, next level. They say " be just like my brother, or sister" to act like a grown up. Or that I am too grown up and I do too much for my age. No one will ever really be at peace for whom you are. Everyone will always tell you to be someone you're not, and they tell you to be this person, or that person, when I haven't even figured out who I am.
"Go to school, get a good education, be smart, get married, have children" like yeah, school doesn't teach todays statistics, and today's society. No one teaches you how to buy a house, how to save money, what taxes are, how to buy a car, how much everything is; no one teaches the youth a Non-fictional life. Then they wonder why people start failing in life because no one tought them how to be an adult, how to live life. So when someone debates in a political statement on wiether we should teach the children in elementary school, what gender they are, in all seriousness, they haven't even been taught how to make a good group of friends, to not steal from eachother, how to talk with respect, instead society is building up this idea of teaching kids, who hasn't gone a day without their parents, to question their gender?
Or remember when the people who died for us to live, to change the colour of the poppy? Days after days, hunger from dehydration, bombs, gunshots, friends dying in their hands, family losing their parents, their sons, their fathers; we want to change it to please the people who did what for us? Don't get me wrong, I support the people and whom they love and whom they are, but that history we don't f**k with.
No one shows you what happened today, behind every closed doors, no one shows you how to deal with your mental health, yet teach the youth, our future generation, how our body works for ovulation. No one teaches another when you should start going to work, no one shows you how to do a job, no one tells you at what age you should start investing money, what age you should start to work. No one teaches you how to deal with different people, no one tells you what is going on in your city everyday, how many children go missing over the years, or how many people were missing, or how many people get SA in the streets you live in, why? To keep you safe? Or to teach you how to deal with people, and what can one day save our lives. Yet we talk about the past in history class, like we could go back in time and change people's minds in a political arguement/debate; when we should be talking about what we can do in this generation. We don't teach the youth how to protect ourselves, or to not laugh at ill people, or different coloured people, or to accept everyone for whom they are, or whom they want to become, instead we live in this controversial world where we prepare ourselves from a fictional world, and not get ready for this war.
