Best Man and Best Friend

We just sat there in silence. On a Sunday afternoon, Nicole and I were at Starbucks for lunch, just like we planned to do on the phone the day before. I understand if this is a lot for her to process. I'm engaged to her biggest celebrity crush and I slept with him. It's not like this was a guy at school she had a minor crush on, this was Jason Bennett. He was the guy she has had a major crush on since 8th grade when his first single came out and we both heard it on the radio on the way to the mall (Yes, I remember that day very clearly). I had told her before I really didn't care about him. But now I do, very much so. I lost my virginity to him and he stole my heart.

Finally I spoke. "Hey" I said. "Hey" she said back. I don't know if she's mad or just confused. Either way, I don't want to lose my best friend. "Are you mad at me?" I asked. "No, you've been my best friend since 1st grade. I just would never have expected this to happen. You've always been so independent" she said. 

"Yeah, you're right. I would have never thought this would  happen to me either. It just happened" 

"Are you sure this is what you want? Are you really in love with him so much that you want to spend the rest of your life with him?" 

"Yeah, I've never felt this way about anyone before. There's just something different about him. Something that makes my heart skip a beat every time I think about him. Plus, he asked me to marry him, not the other way around" 

"Ok. But there's one more thing I want to ask" 

Uh oh. Here it comes. 

"Can I be a bridesmaid?" Nicole asked with a big smile. 

That was not what I was afraid she'd say. I was afraid she'd say she didn't want to be my friend anymore. This was awesome. I couldn't imagine my wedding be without my best friend. 

"I got something better you can be" I said. 

"What?" 

"Would you like to be my maid of honor?" 

"Duh, of course I would" 

"That's incredible" 

"OMG I love weddings. They are so romantic. Is he a good kisser?" 

"The best" 

Well, I wasn't lying. 

We spent the rest of our lunch together talking about the wedding and Jason. But this time we were talking about Jason the person and not Jason the pop star. Jason the person was the one I was going to marry. Jason the person was the one I was in love with. 

After an hour, it was time to go. I hugged Nicole goodbye and headed off to my car. I had to get home.  

Once I got in my car, I took out my phone to see if I had any new messages. Sure enough, I had a new text. I opened it.

Jason: Hey babe ;)

He was so cute. I typed in my reply

Camryn: Hey cutie ;) Just got finished w/ lunch. Im on the way home. U off work yet?

Jason: Yeah, FINALLY! Cant wait 2 c u :) :) Did u find out how ur friend feels about our engagement yet? My fans are getting anxous. Oh, wait.....thats me. lol :D

Camryn: Ur very funny :P and yes, I found out

Jason: Well.........How does she feel? Whats her name again anyway? I keep 4getting

Camryn: U always 4get her name. Her name is Nicole.

Jason: I knew it started w/ an "N"

Camryn: Haha luv u ;)

Jason: luv u 2. But still...... How does she feel?

Camryn: She's awesome about it. She's going 2 b my maid of honor

Jason: That's gr8 :) But I thought its the bride's sister that is traditionally the maid of honor

Camryn: Im an only child. I have no sister. Nicole is like a sister 2 me. Shes been my best friend since 1st grade. Shes the closest thing I got 2 a sister. What about u?

Jason: What about me?

Camryn: Who's going 2 b ur Best Man?

Jason

I stared at Camryn's text message.

Camryn: Who's going 2 b ur Best Man?

All my friends are in Texas. My dad is not around much. I have no friends here in LA besides Camryn. What the hell am I suppose to do?

I sent her a text back

Jason: We'll talk about that l8r. How about we talk about it while we do some wedding planning?

Camryn: OK. Sounds cool. We'll do it once I get home :)

Jason: Deal. C u soon. Luv u

Camryn: Luv u more :) :) :) oxoxoxox

I turned off my phone and set it on the table. I was in the living room with my laptop and a bunch of wedding planning stuff in front of me. I didn't realize that planning my wedding was going to be so much work. Location, flowers, catering, DJ, invites, the list goes on and on. Good thing I'm marrying Camryn and someone like Caitlyn Connor. Looking back, she never really cared about me while we were dating. I never really loved her the way I love Camryn. I was more her arm candy than her boyfriend. I don't even remember why we even started dating. If I chose to marry Caitlyn, I would have probably been doing all the work and payed for the whole thing myself. Camryn was different, I spent almost a year with her and she only saw me as a person, not a brand or some public figure. When I talk to Camryn, I can be myself. I feel like a human being when I'm around her. She's the best thing in this entire universe. She's my best friend, lover, and fiance. I can't imagine my life without her.

Just then, the front door opens and Camryn walks in. "Hey, I'm home" she said. "I can see that, georgous" I said. I got up from the couch and planted a kiss on her lips.

Sorry this took so long. School sucks. I love the 103 reads on this book. This book wont be done for a long time. There is still so much to write about Jason and Camryn. They are a great love story to write about. I'll update more soon
